Re: Message 7- I have read somewhere that as we get older, our systems

become more alkaline. ALong with apple cider and or lemon juice, I would

think acidophilis would be an option, so as to balance the acidity and

alkaline levels. Even hormone imbalances and stress can daily effect their

levels, and acidolphilis would be good to use on a daily basis. Anyone agree?

Re. Bringing husbands to the get together -- I agree with whomever said that

someone has to come watch the kids while us moms gab!!

But seriously, I would love my husband to come. He has been involved in a

few entrepreneurial ventures over the last few years. And when you have your

own business, your hours are terrible. We don't see him as often as we'd

like, and he is hardly involved in the DS part of my/Eli's life. He comes to

the IEPs etc, but he's never been to a session with our private speech

therapist or PT. I think he has not come to terms with how the DS has

changed our lives. So I think it would be good for him to come and start

trying to extend his involvement in that part of our lives.

My husband has a brother 4 years younger than him, and I know he was hoping

when I was pregnant with the twins that at least one would be a boy so our

older son could have a great brother relationship like he had.

Well, one was a boy, and they have a great relationship, but I think my

husband has not fully dealt with the fact that it's not the relationship he

had in mind. He has not fully grieved for what was lost. Which in NO WAY I

mean to take away from what a great person Eli is. It's that damn extra

chromosome.

is a wonderful, loving, playful, sensitive and giving father and

husband. He simply hasn't had the time, or hasn't chosen to make the time,

to deal with what I think could be an emotional time bomb for him.

But as I babble on I realize this is stuff for our therapist! (I started

going on my own, he came with me a few times and then started seeing her on

his own!)

Count me in for an East Coast get together.

Hi, ...

I haven't tried Flexeril since being diagnose with CMT. I used it prior to a

lower back surgery in 1978. I think it worked for spasms if I remember right.

Maybe I'll as my doctor about it ... thanks for reminding me.

I get cracks sometimes when the starting temps for the oils are too high.

The soap puffs up and cracks and steams (it's quite frightening). If I make

sure that my oils are no hotter than 120 for CP I don't have any problems

Dear Listers,

Thanks for all your help with the RFFC and IV questions. Here are some more

if you don't mind answering.

Do you use objects, pictures or both? Can you use the same pictures and

items you used to teach them as tacts?

Thanks again for all your help!

i don't have any easy sprouters. My kitchen space is very small. I just

use Mason jars with special lids for sprouting that i picked up at our

local health food store. It works!!! BTW, i think alfalfa sprouts are

great in salads.

They can be but usually are not. Normally you have to purchase the

parasite cleanse separately but it is best to do them both together.

Actually, if one were to do an extended bowel cleanse (two to four

weeks) then I would say to start with the bowel cleanse for one week and

then add in the parasite cleanse. This way you weaken the parasites and

it is much easier to elimate them. Anything you get should have

wormwood, black walnut hull, pumpkin seed, cayenne, garlic at least and

maybe even cloves.

I think also it would be good to be taking some soothing herbs like slippery

elm during a cleanse like this to ease some of the discomfort involved in

blasting these parasites out. Intestinal Cleanse #2 was formulated for just

such a need. I'd hate to have to feel sick while making myself well if I

didn't really have to.

-Thanks! Well, I don't know about 600, easily well over 300 or 400 though.

Some are just sucky but I have an obsession. I try and " clean house " once in a

while and usually just get reid of one or two.

My favorite is the original Advanced Live Taebo 2. Its what really drew me into

Taebo and the music " Paperback novel " bein one of the songs ..love it.

As for non-Taebo tapes....some faves include anything Rodney Yee, Minna Lessig

Strength and Grace, Kathy Time Saver Cardio, Tamilee Web tighter assets,

and an old Jazzercise tape that is 15 min long. They are all older but they are

the tapes I turn to when I am unmotivated or undecided.

Today I did Taebo Bootcamp Abs--some moves very easy others...youch. We'll see

how my mid section feels tomorrow. I also did Taebo Bootcamp Basic training and

two sections of Afro-Brazilian Cardio workout by the Method. I LOVED this one. I

got it from Blockbuster's netflix like service and I'm going to buy it. Perfect

as a fun add on or hobby tape. Not for the uncoordinated though.

Well Terry is demanding I get offline ;-)

Don't stress !!!!!

Ileana,

Who's got a 19 litre container?

If it was that big a container it would produce a huge

scoby to go with it (I guess its circumference will be big as well).

Starter liquid for that quantity would be about 2 litres.

I brew the bulk of my Kombucha in nine 4 - 5 litre special foodgrade

plastic buckets which I bought from a Kombucha utensils supplier.

These work fine and show no sign of deterioration.

As these buckets are oval in shape, so are the scobys:

huge ovoids. I use one of the same buckets as 'container for

slimy creatures' plus KT which gets nicely acidic for my own

starters. There are also quite a number of glass jars with

Kombucha and water kefir ....

....get the idea, my kitchen is overrun with my slimy friends.

This morning the atmosphere in the kitchen was so strongly

kombuchic, I knew immediately: Today is bottling time for

4 of my buckets (about 19 litres).

Did I mention 19 litres and give you the idea of having just one

19 litre container? I wish ..... ;-)

Blessings,

Margret:-)

The plastic doesn't impart any kind of taste to the kombucha? I think I

was reading somewhere that this can happen with plastic.

I'm wondering because you can get 6.5 (25L) or 7.9 (29L) gallon plastic

buckets from wine brewing supply stores. I was thinking of using these

before but I figured it would impart some kind of taste.

forgot to mention that you can also get some of these with a spigot if

you want. And of course they have 10 or 20 gallon buckets also.

Hi ,

I home brew beer and I use a small beer keg with the top cut out. It is food

grade stainless steel, so it would be safe to use.I think the small beer kegs

are 7.5 gallons and the big ones are 15 gallons. Sometimes you can get them at a

liqueur store or at Sabco. They have a lot of different containers with spigots.

I will try to post the link. Mike http://www.kegs.com/

thanks... that's interesting - never thought to use a keg. Still curious

about brewing in food grade plastic buckets though. I assume if it is

good enough for wine, it should be good enough for kombucha as well.

Hi ,

IMHO just because a container is used for something else doesn't

necessarily mean it's appropriate. A fellow kt brewer here in my town

just switched to plastic - she was not concerned about leaching - in

fact, she said it tasted better. Hmmmm....I'm thinking if it's

affecting the flavor - whether good or bad - it's imparting some of

it's components. Which, in the case of plastic that something would

be petroleum based. With all the other brewing vessels available -

both large and small - why take the chance?
