Guest guest
Merced, Your body gets accustomed to everything eventually so the cheat day is to through a wrench into the works and give your metabolism a kick. Taking one day a week to have what you want is that wrench. By spreading out your cheat meals over several days you give your body a different message and it will stop burning fat as efficiently. You don't have to PIG OUT necessarily. Just eat the foods you have been craving all week and keep it in moderation if you are getting too sick. Some people keep a list on the fridge all week and when they get those cravings they write the food down on their " cheat list " . Then when that day comes you can indulge on the foods you wanted and it keeps you clean the rest of the week. ~Laury

Guest guest
Hello.................I think that you should enjoy your FREE day without any guilt or concerns. I am about to finish my 1st challenge and I took complete advantage of my FREE day. I ate anything and everything that I felt I needed in order to stay away from them the other 6 days of my program. I never craved any of the unauthorized foods during my workout days. I feel this was in part due to the fact that I mentally knew that I could have them at the end of the week. By the way I managed to go from a size 18 to a size 12 so far.......and that was with taking full advantage of the FREE DAY. Never deprive yourself of the things we " THINK " we need to eat, otherwise you will crave them during times you should not be having them. Follow the program step by step-----Bill developed it in such a way that it helps us achieve our BEST. Carolyn
Guest guest
I, too, think you should eat whatever you want and have craved all week on your free day. That is what made my first challenge so do-able for me. I was never more than 6 days away from a big bag of M & M's, cheese dip and chips and lots more junk food. Maybe progress would be a little faster without the free day but the mental game of not depriving yourself is worth a lot to me. Guest guest
Carolyn, Congratulations on the great results. Wow! An 18 to a 12! Inspiring work! Don't forget your celebration and planning before your next round. It is a good thing to take a week off or so to get the body ready to be shocked again. Guest guest
Thanks Kit.........I have worked very hard for my results and I will continue to do so. When you say that one should take a week off, are you talking about from everything? Like: No weight lifting, No supplements, or No watching what you eat---within reason. I will still have to have my 14 cups of water a day......My body craves it now. Please let me know soon for I will be finishing up in about 1 1/2 weeks. Thanks, Carolyn
Guest guest
Carolyn, It's like free day in some respects. You are getting the body out of its normal BFL routine so that in the next round it feels it as a change rather than the same thing. That way you avoid a plateau and get the most response from you muscles for the same amount of work. I've done a wide variety of things. One strategy is to continue to eat the same and alter your workouts. For example lift light without the intensity for more reps. Do straight line cardio rather than the solution. Choose a foreign type of aerobics for a period. Another approach is to call it a free week and discontinue all weights, aerobics and the six meals and have some forbidden foods. The key is to celebrate and take a vacation, whether it is a working vacation or not. You need to mentally prepare yourself for another 12 weeks and a break is good and allows you to spend time preparing goals and designing your program. I took 5-6 weeks off after Thanksgiving last year, and did some German Volume training (10 sets of 10 reps in a specific pattern) and reduced the aerobics to twice a week and increased the calories slightly and had a free weekend. My worst round was after not taking a break and not doing the new planning and design work. You really need to rebuild your drive and inspiration and the break helps in my opinion. Damn.........Just be careful of those free days, the only time I think you should eat like that is after your body got use of your cardio program.......That's very imporatant If you're not going to be on the BFL program, and you're not going to espouse the very crucial elements that lead to its success, please don't post. Its bad enough that you are quite ignorant of BFL, in general, but even worse when you post those things (as above). You are not adding anything to the conversation. a "It is never too late to be what you might have been." - Eliot
Guest guest
It is called the Free Day, not the Free Meal, take full advantage of it, it throws the body a curve ball, the body is very good at adapting to whatever diet you throw at it, so if you take one day to indulge, it takes the body out of starvation mode and it also throws the body a curve ball, I have been through three challenges, and used free day to it's fullest, I love my beer and the free day is the only day I can have it Using a different diet now, but won't go into it here, miss my free days. Bill > Hi all, > > Yesterday i asked the question about how the free day works. Im still not sure, some are saying you can eat what you want all day, others say only one meal. Could someone who has completed the challange please advise me on the best path to take. > > Thank you, > > Jon (Australia)

Guest guest
Free day is Free day. No measuring, no exercise, no sweat! Last year's grand Champion ate whatever he felt like on Free Day. It's important not to feel deprived, especially at the beginning. Bill writes down on a list everything he craves during the week which is unautorized and then on Sunday eats what he wrote down. The further you are into a Challenge, the less you feel like eating like mad on Free Days anyway. So mate, no need to put shrimp on the barby on Free Day! . Guest guest
Dido! But, mate, those Australian lobsters are tasty. What I wouldn't give for some good, fresh, Aussy beer battered fish and chips right now. Cheryl C. ---------------------------------------------------------- <Free day is Free day. Guest guest
Well, today is free day. I find that the more I go along, the less I want to eat any junk at all. I used to have fights w/ myself and crave sweets, but never let myself have them. This would result in a binge that would leave me feeling weak and making an even greater resolve to avoid those things. Now that I give myself permission to eat what I want, I don't want it! Today, I had a shake for breakfast and added in some pudding mix, a chicken salad w/ whole wheat bread for lunch, another shake for a snack, and went out for my " free " meal. Ended up w/ some peanuts, a chicken salad w/ a little cheese, and not even a roll! (I was a bread fanatic!!) I am now making some EFL brownies w/ skim milk for dessert. I am so proud of myself. I feel like I'm finally breaking free of the binge/starve cycle that consumed me for so long. I am also breaking free of the need to do as much cardio as possible. I love seeing my muscles forming. About guys at the gym- I go at 5:30 AM and the guys are all very supportive and very nice to me. They keep commenting on how " buff " I'm looking and some are even starting to ask me for tips! It's nice sometimes to have help getting off some of the 8 45 lb. plates that Buff Hugelarge left on the leg press machine. :-) __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I wouldn't worry about it. As long as it works out to one free day for each week you should be fine. > I'm currently C1W5D3... I skipped my free day last Sunday (Easter), for week > 4, because I'm saving it for tomorrow... But now I'm a little concerned with > having a free day on Thursday and then another one on Sunday (the free day > for my week 5)... Should I try to maybe bump my Sunday freeday up a day or > two so it's not so close together and then get it back to Sundays? Should I > just not worry about it? Tomorrow will definitely be an all out free DAY.. > But maybe I could just have a few free meals on Sunday? My free days > usually aren't an all out binge so maybe I'll just take a light free day on > Sunday... Hmmm... I think I should have just taken my freeday last Sunday, > and then used tomorrow as my free day for the week... Well, next time I > suppose!
