Jen,

At the bottom of each of our list emails is a link to the WONDERFUL list

library. Tons of wonderful recipes PLUS links to fabulous suppliers that

specialize in providing ingredients to the small businesses. I'm sure cetyl

alcohol is available from many of those suppliers but it's definitely at The

Herbarie (http://www.theherbarie.com/emulsfy.html#Cetyl).

Hi Louise,

Cetyl Alcohol can be used in lots of things :) It's an oil soluble, fatty

alcohol and can be used as a stabilizer and thickener in emulsions or as a

thickener/stabilizer to make creamy scrubs or other anhydrous products. It has

a

very nice feel also. I'll post some formulas from our formulary. Have fun!

Soothing & Smoothing Shea Scrub -Revised

Emollient oils and butters blended with salts to create a lovely texture and

feel.

23.0% Shea Butter = 115 grams

22.0% Cetyl Alcohol = 110 grams

48.0% Fractionated Coconut Oil = 240 grams

1.0% Tocopherol = 5 grams

3.0% FO/EO = 15 grams

3.0% Polysorbate 20 = 15 grams Total 100% = 500gramsSalts 500gramsProcedure:

Heat shea butter, cetyl alcohol, and fractionated coconut oil until melted.

Remove from heat and add tocopherol. Stir continuously until mixture begins to

solidify. Add salts and continue to mix. When mixture is cool (less than

50C/122F), add eo/fo, polysorbate 20, and preservative if desired. If a

preservative

is used, we recommend LiquiPar Optima or Phenonip. Please note: The salts are

not calculated as part of the formulation. They are added at a 1/1 ratio (by

weight) to the formulation, which in this case would be 500grams.

Ginger's Thick & Creamy Facial Cleanser

We want to thank Pam Ingle of Nymphaea Soaps, Etc. for this excellent

formula:

“This is a favorite with my daughters, who have delicate skin prone to acne.

It is so mild that it doesn’t dry out or irritate the skin, but cleanses well.

This elegant, ultra-mild facial cleanser has a texture and viscosity similar

to that of a rich hand creme. This cleanser can be packaged in a Malibu tube

or it can be packaged in jars. When packaged in jars, we use a soft facial

cleansing brush. First, moisten skin, and apply a thin coat. Moisten the brush

with water and gently lather.

Note: Glycolic acid may be added (q.s) for chemical exfoliation. Jojoba

spheres are a nice touch for mechanical exfoliation.â€
