Guest guest
Hi : No apology is necessary. I am thinking of your son and others like him who are part of our military. ly it did not take long for this GADer to worry about her sons being involved in some military action and they are still in high school. So your concern for your son is so normal and understandable. I hope that you family and all other families affected by this terror will find some renewed peace and much love in the difficult days ahead. Take care, aloha, Kathy (h) kathyh@... Guest guest
I want to apologize to the list for my absence the last few days. After collecting myself once I learned of the horrific events that have unfolded here in the last few days I attempted to keep up with my mail only to be thwarted by several days of All Circuits are busy messages. We live 30 minutes south west of Philadelphia and the eerie calm in the skys has only been made more glaring when a plane does fly by. I have spent a few moments here and there in my own selfish grief and fear for my son who is in the Navy. To give some history - I was terrifed of him enlisting last year because I just had one of those " Mommy " feelings that something of this magnitude would happen and he would be sent away to help deal with it. He is still waiting, with the rest of us to see what is to happen, he has been in the Nuke school, but all bets are off at this point as to where he will end up! Part of my feels guilty and selfish, but after many years in Al-Anon, and being exposed to more mental health professionals than I care to count I have learned that feelings " just are " , it is what you do about them that matters most. The other parts of my heart go out to those fmilies who are grieving the loss/possible loss of their loved ones. The most I can do for them at this moment is to continue to carry on and honor them with my prayers. My young children are understandably frightened, fortunately the school opted to let us parents tell the younger children and ehy have been great about sending home information for us to read to help us talk to the kids and to help them to feel safe. My OCD child has been very frightened, being afraid to go to sleep, hearing noises, wondering if the highjackers were caught...one of the hardest things to explain to him was that the " bad guys " didn't jump off the plane. Fortunately, he had an already scheduled appointment yesterday with his psychologist and she also talked to him, reminding him that there are millions of people world wide who are looking to find whoever was responsible for this carnage so that they can ensure that this type of thing will never happen again. Reminding him of these facts is helping, along with limiting TV viewing (they saw nothing on this subject yesterday!)and newspaper reading, and a good dose of patience on our part is helping also. I feel incredibly grateful that all my loved ones and friends who might have been in NYC or DC were not there, and my friend who is never in the country was actually here! I have read all your posts today and it is so great to see that even though our kids are having a harder time than usual with this, we are all making it! Keep up your exceptional work! in Southeastern PA __________________________________________________ Terrorist Attacks on U.S. - How can you help?
