Guest guest
Thanks Tamra, sounds alot like Avery. My dh and I find the ADHD behavior the most irritating and find ourselves getting angry at it and Avery and then feeling guilty. Unfortunately, we've been through this medication dance before with my older son, Ian (10). He's tried Imiprimine, Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Effexor, Celexa, Wellbutrin, Adderall, Ritalin, Tenex and probably some more I'm forgetting. Right now he's on week 2 of Lithium with Risperdal as needed and we're finally seeing a real break-through. Avery has been seeing a neurologist for the past year who was monitoring her meds (Zoloft). It really helped with her anxiety, but seemed to rev her up. She is naturally really revved up, so when we finally got a chance to get her into to my son's pdoc, we switched. Adolescent psychiatrists on my insurance are few and far between around here! I fear that he will eventually decide that she is bipolar also. I am beginning to see many of the signs. They are different than Ian's symptoms, but still fit the criteria. I really trust this doctor, he will go slow and not rush into a dx. He has suspected Ian's dx for 2 years, yet it's still not formal. We have an appt. for a 2nd opinion this week with another pdoc. This was at the original pdoc's insistence. He wants another professional to verify it. Of course, it also took me 2 years to come to terms with it. I was willing to believe OCD, ADD, TS+, depression, but the bipolar just scared me to death. I finally started researching it, and realized it fits Ian and encompasses all the other dx that he's had. We'll just have to see about Avery. Meanwhile, I think I'll call the pdoc on Monday and see if I can get a script for Risperdal or something to calm her down in the evening hours. She is driving all of us nuts. Poor little Gracie, my 4 year old, keeps coming to me complaining that she can't get any sleep 'cause Avery won't shut up or leave her alone! in TX
