Guest guest
hi everyone! this morning i did a dvd that i got at the library... men's health: 15 minute workouts. i liked the women's health workout dvd quite a bit so i thought that this would be worth a try. this one is led by some guy (lol) and he has two backgrounders with him... a male and a female. the instructor was ok... he gave a few form pointers here and there, demonstrated each exercise before starting, and also count down the last few reps. there is also a clock on the screen that counts down the time to be spent on each set. the four workouts are: - jump rope and weight circuits -- i did the jump rope segments on the rebounder. - lower body - abs - full body -- some compound exercises in each segment (most of the time), 3 or 4 exercises are chosen and then they are rotated through a couple of times. in one, the weights and reps are pyramided... in another segment, the weights are staggered (?? dont recall the term for this but in one hand you hold a heavy weight, and in the other hand you hold a weight that is 10 lbs less). this helped to keep things interesting, however, they also give you recovery time (usually 60 seconds) between exercises and sets, and the instructor and his two sidekicks just stand around and chat with each other which is kind of boring. also they provide recovery time during the ab workout which i thought was really unnecessary. i figured that since the workout is for men, i would be able to use heavier weights so i got the 15 lb dummies out and used them quite a bit. actually 4 sets of dumbells are required for the pyramid workout. overall i thought that the workouts on the dvd were good, but there was no warmup, cooldown or stretching provided! i hate that!! also there was not an upper body workout provided. upper body is worked in some of the other segments, however i would have preferred a segment dedicated to it. so this dvd is ok, but just be aware that you need to add on the missing requirements. :*carolyn.
