Guest guest
Wow, sometimes all it takes is 15 minutes with the right person and your whole perspective changes! I just met with Annie's teacher for the annual "here's the scoop on my daughter" talk. She got to see what she was dealing with yesterday when Annie flipped out and left class in tears and wouldn't return until recess. So I arrived, armed with her copy of Teaching the Tiger, and explained... she UNDERSTOOD!! Not only did she say that she, too, had been hypersensitive as a child and understood that really well, but she used to be a special ed teacher. She was thrilled with Teaching the Tiger and full of useful ideas for me to help Annie with her overreaction to events at school (I got screamed at today, Mom,and nearly got detention...Screamed at? ... Well, my teacher told me to sit down...). And the best thing she said was, "It must be incredibly hard to live with someone with OCD. How do you manage??" I nearly cried. This is the first teacher in all these years that didn't make me feel neurotic and actually understood the issues. I'm still in shock. So, if any of you can move to Reno, I can recommend an awesome fourth grade teacher! Happily enjoying my morning,

I hope everyone's year will go as smoothly as yours is going to be. If only all teachers were this way. Tammy in Pa

This kind of sensitivity is rare and I've always had the same reaction the few times I've encountered it. I feel like I can take a deep breath and then I want to cry. It's wonderful.
