Guest guest
Why are protein bars frowned upon? and protein shakes are okay? I have 3 bars: Zone Perfect, Body For Life, and Met RX Pure Protein. Each have a terrific balance of protein and carb, about 200 calories, and less than 7g fat. During Challenge 1, I REALLY ENJOYED a bar as a snack meal. It gave me the satisfaction of eating a candy bar, yet it was food. I know it's processed and not whole food, but what is the reasoning where it could stall weight loss/inches loss? Because I find that when I have the urge to cheat, it is an authorized food that satisfies that urge. My choice would be to eat about 5-6 bars per week, perhaps 1 or 2 in " emergency I don't have food with me and I'm in the car " situations, and about 3-4 just to eat a candy bar at my late afternoon snack. I haven't finished Venuto's book, and I know it's better to make your metabolism work harder to digest the real food, but if my other meals are chicken, fish, cc and string cheese; wild/brown rice mixture, sweet and white potatoes, squash, green vegies..., fresh fruit, ... then there's plenty of digesting going on during the other 5 meals. thanks for your facts and opinions.
