Guest guest
OMG!! I just read this on the BFL Guestbook yesterday: This is what was said: On the topic of fat burners...I know many here take them and many ask about them. I wanted to share what I read in a Bill article today when two different people asked him about them: : Here's the quick run-through on supplements that I would recommend to someone who is trying to gain muscle while losing fat: Creatine: Yes CLA: Yes ZMA: No Fat burners: No Antioxidants: Get them from food Pyruvat: Are you kidding? Member question: Why no to fat burners? My boyfriend is addicted to them and he doesn't listen to me, perhaps if you mentioned it he'd believe me. I worry. : I certainly have not seen the thousands of people who successfully transformed with Body for Life giving credit (honestly) to any particular fat burner. Your body burns fat just fine on its own. It's usually the mind that hangs on to it. And when you change your mind, focus on what you want to look like, what you want to feel like, and you allow exercise and proper nutrition you to get there, you will succeed http://www.bodyforlife.com/community/msg_read.asp > > I don't recommend anything manufactured to boost fat loss. Guest guest
Putting some thought to that I would actually have to agree. 80% of my fat loss is from changing my diet. 25% from training. The other 5% would be the thermos. Different for muscle gain and changing my body shape, but for fat loss this would be true. And no I'm not recommending that you can achieve the same results just doing the nutrition and NOT the training. It's a synergistic combination. Can't have one without the other. - > > > > I don't recommend anything manufactured to boost fat loss. > Consistent > > clean BFL will boost fat loss faster than anything on the market. > > Regarding muscle building, as long as you are taking in adequate > > protein--at least 1 gram per pound of lean bodyweight--you are > doing > > your best for that purpose. Guest guest
oh what to do. he likes creatine while you are still losing fat. I hate to see the scale go up. I'm at 20% fat. Should I try the creatine? I have betagen in the cupboard and haven't opened it. I Would love to see some strength gains. Maybe I could do a real pullup. Guest guest
Diane, I don¹t know if this is coincident or what but my scale has finally gone down since I started using creatine! Go figure. I¹m at 29.5% bf from 31%. I thought for sure the scale would go up, but go figure the scale fairies were on my side this week - I was beginning to wonder if they really existed Seriously, I¹m sure it wasn¹t a direct result of the creatine, but from the hard workouts and good eating I¹ve been doing for the past month and a half. You can always give it a try and stop it if you aren't getting the results you want. I can feel some improvement in strength which can only help me reach my goal, and again my workouts are mostly getting better because I'm doing them regularly. One of my goals is also to do a pull up. I never passed the President's Physical Fitness test because of that stupid pull up! I'm going to do it at 45! My 2 cents, Laurie - San Diego
Guest guest
the best thing i did was go on betagen. i love it! made a real impact on my workouts. i can lift so much heavier. i feel like wonderwoman!
Guest guest
Thanks! I'm 45 too. Well in 2 months. I have started my pull up work with a reverse pull up.. not the same of course. I do assisted pullups too but haven't progressed in weeks. I'm thinking creatine might knock me over that hump. I need to stay off the scale LOL. Guest guest
In my second challenge last year, I introduced creatine. All I can say is it made a world of difference in getting me over the hump. Must of been that I could lift heavier and put on muscle. A good idea is just to throw your scale away before you go one then you'll never know about any added pounds. It's really just about getting over the mind thing since the pounds are not fat Re: Re: Beginners and supplements...(What Bill Reccomends) oh what to do. he likes creatine while you are still losing fat. Guest guest
But did you all get really bloaty and yuck feeling and your pants were too tight(heh, in technical terms)? That is what I am really worried about. BUT, if it helps you lose fat... that's a major plus. > > >Putting some thought to that I would actually have to agree. 80% of > >my fat loss is from changing my diet. 25% from training. Guest guest
Alright thanks!, I'm going to crack open the Betagen. Thanks guys! I hope to be able to do a full pull up or 2 before this challenge is over. I'm in week 4. Diane off to take the batteries out of the scale. Guest guest
I think you can take creatine if you think you are okay with not seeing the scale go down. This might not happen in your case, but if it does you have to understand that it's probably just water weight. That being said, I took creatine the first 4 weeks of my challenge but then I started freaking out about not loosing any scale weight. I read alot about creatine before taking it so I thought I was mentally prepared for not seeing the scale moved. But I wasn't. So I went off it for 2 weeks, and I decided to go back on it this week. I no longer weighing myself everyday, and even if I was I think I'm stronger now not to really let the scale number affect me.... But, I guess we will see..hopefully, I'm not posting a 10 week freakout post. > > >Diane, I don¹t know if this is coincident or what but my scale has finally > >gone down since I started using creatine! Guest guest
Nope, I didn't bloat (well maybe my stomach did, but it's already big). > > > > >Putting some thought to that I would actually have to agree. 80% > of > > >my fat loss is from changing my diet. 25% from training. Guest guest
Not really. Did cramp a little at first, but my experience with it showed the benifits far out weighed the side effects. Guest guest
So, in your opinion... for someone who is at the 5-10lb mark from goal weight (and struggling to drop the last bit) that this may really help with the shove? SO funny that I am paranoid to have my jeans get tight from this stuff! > > > > > > >Putting some thought to that I would actually have to agree. > 80% > > of > > > >my fat loss is from changing my diet. 25% from training. Guest guest
When I was in grade school there was a program called the President¹s Physical Fitness Test which had a bunch of activities such as below a timed 100 yard dash, pull ups (1 for girls), sit ups, a longer run, the broad jump...a whole group of measured fitness activities . If you passed you got a patch.
Guest guest
remember the bloat from creatine will be temporary, whereas the fat is not!
