**BIG DISCLAIMER** - If you're already going strong on your challenge,

throwing Twinkies and chocolate chip cookies into your meal plan

probably isn't going to help you any! LOL

The articles are geared more toward the people who are always on the

fringes and can't seem to get started, or the ones who try and then

quit the first time they make a mistake, or the ones who are so

overwhelmed by it all that they can't see it ever being fun or a

lifestyle. A lot of people think that if they can't do it right, why

bother? I'm just trying to point out that doing Body for Life

half-assed will get you much better results than doing nothing. :-)

Skwigg is a genius. I have been following her suggestions on easing

into BFL (minus the chocolate :-) for a few weeks while adding in a

beginners level of exercising. You know what, it works! Although I

have a LONG way to go to get to the level Skwigg is at, I know I am

making progress. (My arms are looking good!)

For others just starting BFL, this may be the way to start. To go

from eating junk and getting NO exercise to doing BFL by the book is

a big change. Too much for a lot of us. But she has it right about

just eating BETTER foods, getting more exercise, also drinking more

water (compared to my old days of drinking ZERO water). It makes

you feel better and suddenly I am wanting better foods so I have

even more energy. Seems so simple but it is so hard to change old

habits. Just remember, it can be done.

Thanks to Skwigg and all of you for the great tips and suggestions.

FYI, I tried the Champion and Nectar sample pack from Enjoy Health

and so far they are pretty good, but better if you add a bit of

fruit.

Just don't mention " easing " or " cheating " on the BFFM board LOL. You will

get pounded to bits. I have incorporated " cheating " into my life ala Bill

and I'm a size 8 getting smaller.... it can be done with

cheats. Maybe when I get to a 4 and can't go any lower I'll stop

cheating.... or maybe I'll just accept the size and enjoy my chocolate now

and then LOL.

I love food too much to never have a cheat again.

I don't like to think of off-plan food as being 'cheats'

It has such a negative connotation for me....

I just think it's a matter of having 'treats' - the whole idea of a 'treat'

is that it's something special, that we don't have everyday. The

complication was that in today's day and age, it's become feasible to have

them daily (hourly!) - and that wasn't a good thing. But, if I think of

them as something special, for occasional use - there's no issue.

It's so refreshing to read these articles so that we can keep this

in perspective. Of course Bill wants everyone to do BFL by

the book with no cheats except free day. He wants people to have

dramatic transformations because that's what will sell his books.

If people cheat and then don't get the results, they will blame Bill

and his program.

On cheating: it's all about your goals. If you are not entering a

fitness competition, then cheat occasionally if it will maintain

your sanity! It won't completely blow your chances of obtaining your

goals. Bill and his fat police thugs won't show up at your door and

stick a scarlet " F " on your chest if you sneak a bite

of " unauthorized food. " You may have a goal of dropping your body

fat by 10% in 12 weeks. If you cheat, you may only drop it by 8% in

12 weeks, but that's still better than hanging out on the couch

eating cheetos for twelve weeks and getting fatter. It may take 14

weeks or 16 weeks to obtain your goal, but you still will make it!

I used to mentor a 60-day weight loss course for overeaters. It was

so frustrating when these women would get to day 55 and say " oops, I

had a doughnut. I'd better start over! "

As for me, I do occasionally cheat a little on non-cheat days. I

would rather miss my goal by a hair and still enjoy Ghirardelli dark

chocolate every few days than exceed my goal by eating miserably

clean for twelve weeks and binge for three days after the challenge

is over.

I'm with you, well said. I refuse to feel guilty for the chocolate I ate

on Valentine's Day, and no that was NOT my cheat day LOL.

Where can I find this info about ''easing'' into BFL? I did BFL back in 2000

with great results. I started a size 18-20, followed the plan (not perfectly),

got pregnant, quit BFL, and still got down to a size 10 by the end of the year!

This time, I'm having a very hard time getting back into it, so maybe easing

into it will help.
