Guest guest
Hi everyone, My name is Laurie, I¹m 45 and live in San Diego. I¹m getting into the BFL way of life. I¹m not doing the challenge, just the program. I¹ve been eating this way, or close to off and on for about a year, but I¹m learning a lot about spacing and timing of eating, small meals and all. I¹ve been working out and doing resistance training for the last few months and I¹ve really become committed to it. Seems like the better I get at doing the daily work of taking care of myself the better the rest of my life gets. I currently weigh 160 lbs, but 2.5 years ago I was close to 300. Something a little different about me is that I had a surgical weight loss procedure called the lap-band which is basically like a little belt around my stomach to helps me eat less. The problem was that I found I wasn¹t eating enough or I guess I should say not enough quality food and wasn¹t feeling well so it caused me to get really involved in nutrition and cooking. So the band helped me get to a good point, but there¹s more work to do. My life has changed tremendously but I¹m finding that really taking control over the food I eat and my fitness is where the freedom is. My goal is to be fit, increase my energy, stay healthy and be energetic as I get older and of course look great doing it! Seems like the healthier I get the younger I feel and look. I also love feeling my Œinner athlete¹ coming out. It¹s a true feeling of accomplishment. Here¹s my questions: I have the BFL for Women book and I don¹t know why but I¹m having a hard time picking which exercises to do. My understanding is you should pick 2 for each body part. I sort of wish they¹d just say do these 2 first. Any suggestions or resources on that? At my gym I can do free weights or machines and I¹m not sure which is the best...the machines seem easier to learn. Also, I hear a lot of you talk about how much muscle weight you¹ve gained. How do you figure that out? Thank you all for sharing triumphs and struggles. It¹s been so helpful reading! Laurie
