Hi everyone, hope your all doing well...

So I'm kinda in a hurry but I have a few quick questions...

1. I bought myoplex lite in the beginning of the diet, and then i

realized that the carb content doesnt really allow me to add fruit

when I made shakes. So now I'm on my last packet, and I've kinda

been convinced to switch to carb sense so I can add a banana or a

few strawberries, you know? But carb sense has 25 grams of

protein. Is that too much? I know it sounds weird, but thats a lot

more than the amound of protein I get in a normal meal (cottage

cheese and a banana, for example...) Is it still okay?

2. Is it possible to not have enough calories? In the beginning of

the diet I was losing steadily. I lost like 6 lbs in the first 2

weeks, and I wasnt supposed to lose in the first place, only

maintain. But now I've been at a standstill for, what, like 5

weeks? Its kinda drivng me crazy. So I went to the records for my

first two weeks to see if there were any differeces. And the only

difference I see is that I used to eat more. Now that I'm in

college, I eat a lot less. Sometimes I only get like a half a

portion of protein and a half a portion of carbs (but my meals are

almost always balanced, even if they are smaller portions.) Is it

possible that you lose more when you eat more? Seems weird.

3. Does anybody else here really enjoy their free day and sometimes

overdo it? Does anybody really really eat whatever they want,

despite how many calories stuff is or how unhealthy it is? Does

anybody look forward to free days as much as I do? I'm telling you,

the free days are awesome for me, but I feel like a failure

sometimes because I look forward to it so much. I guess I just get

kinda discouraged when I see that almost everyone eats so healthily

on their free days. I feel like a pig. I keep looking at the

definitions part of the book, where bill phillips says that you must

eat what you've been craving and you must not work out. And then he

says dont beat yourself up afterwards in the chapter about the free

day. And its funny, cuz I listen to every freakin thing he says with

confidence, but I still beat myself up every monday. I guess I'm

just looking for some kind of reassurance...you know...that theres

someone as crazy as I am out there LoL :-D

1. 25 grams of protein seems fine to me.

2. There's a whole theory about if you eat too little then it can

slow down your metabolism. Hence, the body is trying to hold on to

what it has. I say if you found that you were having better results

before, then go back to what you were doing before. Try eating a

little more and see how it affects you.

3. Last couple of weeks there were a whole bunch of posts about free

days. I try to enjoy them, but if I eat too much I feel bad about it

too. So I try to eat what I want, but get some healthy meals in too.

I guess I make it 2 free meals (lunch and dinner) and take snacks

too. For example, I had 6 gummi bears, oatmeal with protein powder,

Thai food stir fry, and crablegs with broccoli and a salad for

dinner on my last free day. This way I can also feel good about it.

I was just this very moment sitting here wondering how you were!

1. I prefer a protein powder without carbs, so I can add fruit. The

guideline for each meal is 20-25 grams of protein, and 20-25 grams of

carb. Some will be more and some will be less. So you're fine with carb sense

2. Yes, it's entirely possible to not have enough calories. If your

calories are too low, your metabolism slows down and holds onto whatever it

gets. I'm sure others will pipe in with more details on this.

3. I eat healthy and non-healthy food on my freedays. I just finished my

22nd week and I enjoy certain things more than others on freedays. But

sometimes I still eat the stuff I don't enjoy on my freedays; I guess from

habit or whatever. Doesn't bother me - I'll stop when I'm ready to

stop. In the longterm, I'm losing weight regardless of all the junk that I

eat on Freeday. Would my loss be faster or more dramatic if I was more

conservative on my freeday? Maybe. Do I care? Absolutely not!

1. 25g of protein is fine.

2. If you cut your calories too low, you'll go into starvation mode

and not lose anymore. You also need to remember that you weren't

trying to lose weight in the first place. So, continuing to drop

pounds every week isn't a realistic expectation.

3. I generally eat like I'm at a Viking wedding on free day, and I

never feel the least bit guilty about it. Do you think Bill

cries and feels like a pig after eating his two dozen Krispy Kremes on

free day? I'm thinking not.

Here is what Bill has said about free day. It's word for word from a

live chat. I saved it because I was so relieved and entertained when I

read it. :-)

Valley on Van Nuys Blvd. I picked up my usual - two dozen glazed. One

for me in the morning and one for me in the afternoon. You know, last

Sunday, those donuts were so darn good. It was like eating a sugar

cloud - each bite was like some type of gastronomic sensuality. I hung

around the shop for a while, drank a quart of milk, and brought the

other dozen back home with me to watch the Broncos. Broncos win,

clench a playoff birth, and I'm covered with glaze frosting. It

doesn't get any better than that. Well, it does, but this is a family

program. Where were we?

Answer to #3. I eat whatever I feel like on free day. Sometimes is a

lot. Sometimes not so much. This past sunday I scarfed down nearly

3000 calories worth of food. It tasted great too and nope, no guilt.

I'm moving on.

LOL!! Bill is funny!! I can so relate to this statement regarding [junk] food:

Aliza,

The concept of overdoing it is relative. Do what feels good for you. When/if

it starts to feel like it's not right, then modify it to find a good fit.

My free day in Sunday. I eat a whole wheat waffle with butter and real maple

syrup. Something healthy for lunch, 'cause I want to and that's how I've eaten

for more than 20 years. After that I garf down an 11 ounce bag of Wavy Lays bbq

chips. Wait a few minutes and have chocolate ice cream or a Snickers bar. Wait

a couple of hours and have another 1/2 bag of chips. Sometimes I throw in a

soda, but honestly I don't like the taste as much as I thought I would.

I'm very pleased with my results even with my free days. I look sooooo forward

to that day. I look at it as a reward for being good all week. I deserve it

and thoroughly enjoy them!!!! Sometimes I do feel physically yucky for eating

so much junk, but hey, the feeling passes and I prepare for the Monday am

workout. :-)

OMG! Bill covered in glaze frosting.... I think that's probably

another group all together, eh? I'm just glad he didn't say a whole

lot after that. I would have missed it all. LOL

Try buying the regular Myoplex, but using only half at a time. That

gives you 21 grams of protein and 11.2 grams of carbs, leaving you

some room for fruit, and you cut your expense almost in half.

oh that is so funny, thanks! I'm so glad to hear that from the man

himself. I for one do look forward to my freeday. It is Saturday and I am

thinking about it already on tuesday LOL. It is the only thing that will

keep me honest as I travel for work the next two days, I swear. I think I

am going to succeed this time, and it's 100% because of freeday.
