Guest guest
Well it's snowing but it's only going to give us 1-3" so no biggie, just a lousy morning commute. I did Cathe's Butts & Guts standing legs and abs premix. What a toughie but I really loved it. My buns are killing me! Off to the showers. Guest guest
Tonya - speaking of NC, where is a good place to camp? I would love to not go to Florida this year and go camping in NC. We have been up and down I-95 numerous times and I did spend a week at Sunset beach a long time ago. Any ideas? Guest guest
70 degrees!! It is freezing cold here at 9 degrees and we had 4 inches of snow 2 days ago! I'm so going to NC! Are you doing yoga outside in the park or just sitting on the mat enjoying the beautiful day (enjoy some for me please)! On heavy weights and destressing you sparked this thought: When my son seems out of control or just really at odds and ends with himself it usually means his nervous system is all disorganized and one of the best things for him is heavy work (he needs a lot of input to his muscles and joints and connective tissues to know where his body is in space and especially did when he was younger). When he was little we'd have him wear a backpack weighted down with books and walk around with it on for a while (I'd come up with things I needed him to do so that he had a purpose to walking around), work with play dough or jump on his mini trampoline (I got it at a yard sale for therapy with him, now it is mine). Now it is pretty unusual for him to need it so much but I'll convince him to vacuum or tell him mom needs help moving some furniture or something like that. I've since transferred this awareness to myself and when I'm feeling stressed or at odds and ends with myself I will try to exercise because the heavy work my muscles do relaxes me too. Out of everything not so good comes blessings and in this case it has been many, including greater awareness of my own body! Guest guest
Yes, it was yoga in the park. Wonderful! As for the heavy stuff, I totally agree with it being something that helps center you. I think if I were a kid in todays age, I'd be diagnosed with ADD because I can't sit still and focus on one thing at a time. I have to be constantly moving or doing something. Whenever I get stressed, I have to do either weight training or kickboxing to chill out or I can't sleep. Right now I can't sleep because I've over worked some areas that I haven't worked heavy in a while (due to injury) and I'm really feeling it. Lets just say I'm waiting on the vicoden to kick in so I can sleep. Right now I'm laying in bed, upside down (head at the foot of the bed), reading email, playing slingo, and watching some workouts I had recorded from tv to see if there is anything I want to keep. Maybe all the activity is resulting in my lack of sleep too, but I just toss and turn and focus on the pain if I try turning everything off. I'd get up and go workout to put myself to sleep, but I don't think my traps can handle it again, especially knowing that I'm going to go get more rock tomorrow.
