Kit,

Just read your response to Tina W. Good info! I am not crazy about the

Myoplex drinks either, but love the bars. Can't they be substituted too?

Thanks Kit,

We did enter so I guess I am stuck with the Myoplex. We have a LOT of it.

We got a great deal off fitrx.com 84 for $119.00 I add frozen

strawberries and ice cubes, which seems to make it thinner. Give me

another week or so and I'll probably like it.

Today is day four, I am sore and my poor husband is having a hard time

putting one foot in front of the other. We have more energy already, I

can't believe it! I popped out of bed at 4:30 LOOKING FORWARD TO GOING TO

THE GYM!

I used to body build several years ago. I know I felt better, but I

didn't have a great diet like this one. This is great!

Tina,

First off Myoplex lite and Myoplex deluxe taste totally different.

Myoplex Deluxe is Nasty and has a harsh medicine taste. The lite has a

nice flavor.

I don't mind the thickness either, it is like a McDs shake to me.

If you split the Deluxe you are getting the same amount of calories as

you would in a full pack of the Lite.

Tina, You have a lot of great things going for you it sounds like! A

partner in your husband to share each others successes, familiarity with the

gym and weights (for many, that's new and very foreign territory), a lot of

energy and enthusiasm (I'm not sure I have ever " popped " out of bed) and a

great attitude (not to mention the great fortune and good judgment to find

and start BFL). As for the Myoplex, add a little more water and beat it

less ( also if you use cold water instead of ice, the ice tends to thicken

it as well ). Enjoy the journey! Kit

Or it could be my history. I started with a meal replacement that was much

higher carbs and less protein, that was very, very thin manufactured by Apex

for 24 Hour Fitness and it was not anything to look forward to. My shake is

the last meal of the day and it represents a big win and a promise kept for

the day. It is generally one of my larger meals and I many times throw in

extra protein powder (now this is overkill-very likely a big waste of

money), peanut butter or a banana. I make sure my daily calories do not

exceed 3000 so as to stay in a calorie deficit situation. But then again,

my range is 2050 to 3250 to maintain a fat loss mode. Kit

I really feel Myoplex is essential. Yes, you have to use it to be in

the Challenge, yes it has a great balance of protein/carbs, yes it

has all kinds of other vitamins etc..

I work a pretty hectic schedule in the tech field (hey, don't we all

work too much..) and I have found that bulk cooking meals and

using Myoplex are key to sticking with the programs essentials.

You do truely get on auto-pilot, which allows me to focus on

workout intensity, planning and the rest of my life, which

inevitably seems to creep up in the day.

After doing all of this cost/time analysis, Myoplex makes a lot of

sense for me. Not sure if this helps. Best of luck.

No, you don't have to use Myoplex to be in the challenge. The rules state

that you must use at least 1 EAS product and you must keep all the receipts.

,

My sister is doing the program on whole foods only. The one

exception is she has a scoop of protein powder mixed with milk as her

meal #6, mostly because her tummy is too full to eat another

meal. :) So, yes, it is possible to do the program on whole foods

only. Myoplex is more a matter of convenience for a lot of people.

I use it for that very reason, otherwise I would never get in all 6

meals.

Jen B.

P.S. Someone may have already written this, but when you post a

message , would you please put the title in the subject line? It

makes it easier to follow the thread and easier for people to find if

they search by topic. Thanks! :)

Just a thought...next time try the new Myoplex Low-carb bars...they

are much more filling (and bigger) and better tasting (in my

opinion). You can eat them with a piece of fruit & glass of ice

water & call it a meal! I'm not crazy about the apple-cinnamon, but

the blueberry & lemon cheesecake are great and VERY filling!

I've bought those at Wal-Mart and like all 3. I was just beginning

BFL when I ordered those other bars and didn't know what I was doing.

Andy, Myoplex bars are higher carb and lower protein. EAS Simply

Protein and Low Carb are good sources of protein and I like the

Labrada Lean Body Bars and the Worldwide Pure Protein bars. You can

always have a piece of fruit if you want to boost your carb count and

fruit tends to be as easily transportable as a bar.

Gen,

It depends on the bar...Myoplex low-carb have only 3-31/2 gm. of

carbs, but the Myoplex lite ones have much more. I know the Simply

Protein bars are pretty low on carbs, but they have more fat. What

are you looking for?

I'm wondering if a touch of splenda would help the myoplex taste any

better......I tried my first one yesterday and just about gagged getting it

down. Or what if I added some real strawberries or rasberries to it (mine is

strawberry). It would up the carb content a bit but it would just have to taste

better.

I did make it with water...perhaps it is better with skim milk?
