Guest guest
This is a common problem. A lot of people will tell you that you will get used to the bar digging into your back. This is true to a point but unless you're planning on entering competitions where padding is not allowed, who cares? Pain from the bar is very distracting when trying to concentrate on form. The first thing is to make sure you are squeezing your scapulae together and not allowing your back to round. That will help quite a bit in and of itself. If that doesn't do it, a Manta Ray will solve some of the problem, however, it positions the bar up higher than you may want it. I found the best solution was to go to a hardware store and purchase some foam pipe insulation. Take an exacto knife or small hack saw and cut it the lengths you need (I think you have to purchase it in 6 foot lengths) and also make a horizontal cut in the pieces so you can slip it around the bar. You can buy pipe insulation in different thicknesses. It's very dense, easy to carry in a gym bag and cheap. When it wears down, you can get more. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Rosemary Wedderburn-Vernon Marina del Rey, CA IronRoses@...
