Guest guest
I agree wholeheartedly with the comments about S+C programs at major colleges. They recruit talent, they do not develop it. The best way to find if this is true is to see how much money they spend on recruiting as opposed to training. If they truly believed that they could develop it, then they would be able to hold a much higher academic and conduct standard. The reality is that we are left with many magnificent athletes who know that no matter how hard 99% of the competition works, they will still be better i.e. Randy Moss. They can get away with ridiculous antics because they know they are in no danger of being replaced. One example is Jay Schroeder. With results he has achieved, you would think that the ASU staff would be salivating to hire him. Ironically, they dismiss him out of hand, saying that his methods are dangerous. This goes to show you the incredible ineptness in the U.S. in the training of athletes. I have spoken to many S+C coaches and have found that they really do not believe that you can create an athlete from someone who is just average. That is why they cloud discussions with alot of jargon and lingo to confuse the public and others. Before and after numbers [40 yd, VJ, etc] are the ONLY thing that counts. Everything else is simply talk. I am baffled how many of these neophytes become celebrity just by their associations and someone like Dr Yessis is often ignored. He has actually developed great athletes from very marginal people. I guess it goes to show that marketing is everything in the U.S. Perception is far more important than reality. Like P.T. Barnum said, there's a sucker born every minute. Yosef Muskegon ,Mi

Although I am yet to spend as much time as I would have liked looking I, after two years in my new state, have not found a training facility that I genuinually 'feel' comfortable at. This is a shame because I like the 'meat and potatoes' approach rather than all of the riff-raff and 'gravey' that tends to go along with all too many training facilities This is why I am so glad to be able to participate in this ST group with everyone as it tends to clarify much of the BS that is out there. Keep up the fantastic work everyone Regards Ben Freeman Melbourne, Australia
