Guest guest
Ok, I have been doing melt and pour for a couple of years now. I have been on this list and been so impressed with what all of you do. I am ready to try my hand at making soap from scratch. So, could someone please help. I have the personal protection items, I have a crockpot, digital scale and tons of oils.............. I want to give it a shot! I only have two more weeks of peace while my daughter is in school, so I want to do it pretty quickly. It will be easier the first time without any distractions. I have been reading lots of books and sites and recipes......, my question is, could someone share a simple recipe for the crock pot process that would be good for a first time attempt? Thanks in advance! Kay, Stoli and Queso Selling soap for weimaraner rescue Soap for hope Got Tickets???? Guest guest
only MY two cents here. I would suggest cold process soap for the first timer. That way you will KNOW what trace is. You will have a 'feel' for making soap and know what to look for. Guest guest
I am sorry but I have to disagree here. Most of the time when people have a failure it is with cold process. You have to be much more aware of your temps and keep them right for cold process. If something happens during the process with cp all you have is a mess. With hp you always get soap in the end. You will have less trouble with your fo's as well and there is no such thing as seizing in hp. All my new students start with hp and then when they have a good grasp of soaping they will go on the cp where if something happens they will be able to know what to do about it. Guest guest
my very first batch of soap was a cp olive soap. I had such a seize, it was enough to put me off soaping for life, had I not been so determined!! I switched to HP for months and only now am I alright with cp. Guest guest
I agree with you totally. I am new to soaping and have done 4 batches of crockpot soap now. I now know what each stage looks like, what volcanos look like, what champagne bubbles look like, what the different traces look like...Each recipe has been different and has reacted in different manners. But, I allways have soap at the end! It's so exciting! Leanna in Alberta.
Guest guest
I see this all the time. I also get students that the first soap they want to make is a milk soap. Boy talk about a recipe for disaster. With hp you will see all the phases the soap will go through and not have to worry about what your fo will do. I still do mostly hp even now. Guest guest
That's great, is it still snowing up there? I just loved the last pic you sent. It was in the 60's today and I had a nice 3 hour ride in the woods with a friend. The rody's are starting to bloom so it was very pretty and peaceful. Have a busy week ahead and I need to make soap in the worst way. Keep soaping. Chris Re: Help for one is getting brave! > I agree with you totally.
