Guest guest
- I had very minimal results during my first BFL challenge; I lost about 10-12 pounds. I took one week off, and I'm currently finishing my 5th week of the 2nd challenge. And for some reason, I've already lost about 10# during the 2nd challenge - as I've heard others say, " the fat seems to be melting off. " So, it's just like what I read somewhere - for some, the changes happen early on, for others it may be after the 8th week, and for others it make be the 14th week. But it seems to me that it does happen. Just to give you some feedback to think over. Happy New Year - n T. Guest guest
n, Thanks for the words of " warning " . :-) I really think that the problem is not BFL - its that I've been dieting too long. This morning I put my scale away (as it has crept up about 2lbs in the last few weeks and I just don't need to know, as long as my measurements are staying the same) and hopefully I won't be tempted to drag it out. I was/am in that dreaded downward spiral of lower and lower calorie consumption coupled with slower weight loss and finally, " perceived " fat gain ( " omigawd, do I see more cellulite??? " ). To try to abort that cycle I need to spend a few weeks or a month eating intuitively - what I am hungry for when I am hungry, staying away from the sugar (and the fake sugar!), and keeping up with my usual exercise patterns. I'll take measurements every 2 weeks, but try hard to not pull the scale out. I know that I need to eat more than I burn in order to put on muscle (which will help get rid of fat later), but I just can't seem to actually DO IT. Those of you who have struggled with this know exactly what I am talking about. FWIW, here are my stats (virtually unchanged from beginning to end of BFL challenge): 5'6 " , 117lbs, 16-18% bodyfat (so the mOron says, but I was borrowing the unit so I don't currently have access....). This may put some perspective on my whining about not budging much - I don't have very far to go, unless I want to be a fitness model or something equally crazy. :-) I just don't want to start going " backwards " , gaining a 1/2 " on some of my measurements, feeling puffy again, etc.... But not going backwards and also not being stupid and trying to continue losing pounds and inches at my size are two different things. Be rational, ! That's my new mantra.... That and, " I can do this! " Take care, everyone. http://tenacity.net > > - > I had very minimal results during my first BFL challenge; I lost about > 10-12 pounds. Guest guest
I noticed you mentioned staying away from the " fake sugar " ....does anyone have some info on why exactly we need to stay away from it? I really like tea...and some days when I need something other than water, I will make some blueberry iced tea with a tad of sweet & low. Will this inhibit weight loss? Guest guest
Liz, I don't know if it will inhibit weight loss, but for me it just makes any sweet cravings I have even worse. I've found it better to not eat anything sweet for a while to kill my sweet tooth, rather than eat Splenda as a substitute for the calories in sugar. One day I'm eating protein bars with Splenda, then protein powder with Splenda, then making frozen cocoa mousse with ungodly amounts of Splenda, etc, etc. Just a viscious cycle, in the end. Also, FWIW, granular Splenda as 96 calories per cup (from the maltodextrin), so it is not completely calorie-free. Real sugar has 774 calories per cup, so it is significantly higher than Splenda. http://tenacity.net > > I noticed you mentioned staying away from the " fake sugar " ....does > anyone have some info on why exactly we need to stay away from it? > I really like tea...and some days when I need something other than > water, I will make some blueberry iced tea with a tad of sweet & > low. Guest guest
I like adding two drops of liquid stevia to my hot tea. M.
Guest guest
That makes ALOT of sense! I think I will stick to the non-sweets for awhile as well. See how it works for me! Thanks!
