I am currently wearing elbow braces which helps but my problem is I need to lift the heavy weights for the muscles or I don't really feel it but when I lift heavy my joints give me problems. I have all but given up doing calf exercises because I need to lift about 300 pounds to feel it in my calves and my ankles can't handle it. I have switched to doing lower weights and many reps on the leg press machine for calves as I'm not sure what else to do. Does anyone else have this problem or any suggestions for me? Michele T. I tried some MSM & Glucosamine cream right on the spot of aching. I have used this cream with tremendous success for sprains, and since the ingredients are mainly for joints, it would hopefully work for them as well when applied topically. I haven't used it for very long, though....so nothing to report yet for the joint pain. But I will let you know as time progresses how it is working for me. Guest guest Posted January 2, 2006 Report Share Posted January 2, 2006 My husband and I, all three dogs, our parents, neighbors and co-workers all take Glucosamine, chondroitin, MSM supplements for healthy joints. Products that combine the three ingredients seem to work best. I had shoulder and hip pain (history now), my husband had tennis elbow (gone), the oldest dog had arthritis (she's jumping on and off the deck again now), and another has severe hip dysplasia (but you would never know it because he's never in pain). Humans take: Maximum Strength Flex-a-min (available at drugstores) Dogs take: Glyco-Flex III (available at veterinary supply stores) These are not pain relievers and you won't notice an immediate difference. It takes a couple of months to see big changes but the products will actually rebuild cartilage, strengthen connective tissue, and lubricate the joints. Pat's Age-Defying Shake 6-8 ounces of orange juice (water, other fruit juices, low-fat or skim milk can be substituted) 5 T soy protein isolate 5 T whey protein isolate 2 T natural apple cider vinegar 1 T flaxseed oil 1 T safflower oil 2 T soy lecithin 1 t MSM powder 5-6 frozen strawberries ( other fruits can be substituted) Non-caloric sweetener to taste 4-5 ice cubes Blend until the shake is smooth. Can put in 2 T of non-fat yogurt or 1 banana, and 1 t creatine (5 g) What do you think?
