Guest guest
This is probably an incredibly novice question, but can anyone tell me why gardenia won't give up it's scent for the purpose of perfume- crafting? It's stikes me as odd that some aromatic botanicals (not just gardenia) can't be captured - what a shame! Jen

Jeanne Rose suggests that you can infuse gardenia in oil (i'd use jojoba or fractionated coconut = long shelf life) by continuous infusion/maceration using large quantities of fresh blossoms (375 Essential Oils & Hydrosols, p.82). this takes longer requires more flowers than tincturing, and is far more challenging to be successful. hope this was helpful~ alex~
