Imagine my surprise when, perusing the aisle of the local TJ's, I found

a cute little jar of coconut oil! At quite a reasonable price. Anyone

used theirs? If it's good, it sure would be a nice break from Garden of

Life's prices. yow!

Although I don't use Garden of Life Coconut Oil (Our store is always

out of it), their coconut oil is VIRGIN coconut oil. Trader Joe's is

expeller(refined), thus the difference in price. Trader Joe's has no

odor that I can detect (steam deodorized I think), so it will work

well enough for dishes you don't want any coconut flavor in. I guess

if you can stand it, virgin is always much better... I personally

cannot stand the coconut flavor except for asian dishes and foods

that are supposed to taste like coconut (ex. macaroon), so I resort

to using expeller coconut oil for other things.
