, I have bad knees too. When I am doing squats I concentrate on pushing my butt out and not on bending my knees. I've done workouts where they do pulses when doing squats but they don't bother my knees. Maybe you are extending your knees past your ankles? Next time you do squats check to make sure that you don't push your knees out past your ankles and that you are really sitting back into that imaginary chair. Stick that butt out! LOL, Jen nancydewolf <nancydewolf@...> wrote: I felt like I had to give it a chance because I was so irritated by the style of it (plus the camera angles were horrible) and didn't want to give up a good workout just because I found the instructor and production annoying. Finally decided it wasn't just those elements but especially the intensity and strain on my knees (I stopped as soon as they started to feel more than "worked") and THAT was the deciding factor (and I could feel good about abandoning it). I posted it on freecycle last night and have had 2 people say they want it, one is supposed to pick it up sometime today. Good riddance! The "funny" thing is I had such a hard time

keeping up with it that apparently I worked my right leg harder than my left because it has DOMS and the left doesn't (I was able to keep my balance better on my right so that's probably why I worked that side harder)! I'm still debating today's workout. My feet are killing me too (bad shoes, my new ones should be in by next weekend) so I'm considering a ball workout I have that doesn't require shoes! Re: Buns of OUCH! I'm amazed you kept at your workout even though you had such sore legs and knees. Sounds like the Target Toning Buns of Steel workout was not a good one. The rest of your workout sounds good. Thanks for the review. Kerry wrote: Hi everyone! I didn't get a chance to workout yesterday so made up for it today by killing my legs. First gotta tell you about my day leading up to this new form of torture. I had jury duty in the morning

and yep, I got selected for a trial, hopefully just 1/2 -1 whole day, Jan. 25 one of the mornings of my new yoga class! I thought about telling the judge that day wouldn't work for me because I was taking a yoga class but decided she probably might not be very sympathetic (another guy couldn't do it because he had a trip to California already planned far in advance for that day, I think a yoga class next to that wasn't much). I have to call the night before to see if they end up settling, hopefully they will and I won't have to miss my class! Anyway, my DH has been really sick and finally went to a doctor today. He's feeling better but has strep throat so he's home for the day. Since he was up for it, I worked out and he hung out with Miriam (after I got back upstairs he decided he really did feel lousy and I convinced him to lay down, it took days to convince him to go

to the doctor). For my workout, I decided to pop in "Buns of Steel Target Toning Workout" (for lower body) which is one of 3 I got off freecycle the other day. I lasted about 10 or 15 minutes with it. OH HOW IT HURT! I figured I'd put up with the burn in my thighs, thinking that was good, but when the knees started getting painful from all the squats (and they bounced a little with them, I wasn't sure that was really healthy) I said this is stupid. My buns aren't that bad to torture myself and screw up my knees (which aren't the best to begin with) and I'm sure I can find a safer (and less irritating) workout for my lower body. The woman leading it (? they only introduced themselves by first name) was SO aggravating too! She just seemed condescending. She kept saying "We're right here with you!" but did not come across as even slightly sincere. The other 2 women kept saying it too and they called out insincere encouragement to each other constantly. I wanted to

throw something at the TV! AWFUL music too! It is from 1997 and I like a lot of 80s and 90s music but they just picked bad pop. said she likes dance, kickboxing and inline skating so there were elements of all those in the workout. I love rollerskating but she had us doing this dumb slow motion (then sped up) skating thing telling you to "keep your buns tight" but I was fighting to stay balanced, forget proper form! I quit around the time she introduced some kick boxing moves because she said you can do this with a chair for balance if you want and I was already falling over enough. I tried it with a chair and it helped, but then I didn't feel like I was working enough. I was also annoyed because none of the exercisers showed modified moves so again, I felt condescended to (kind of like, if you REALLY need it you can use a chair for this but we're really good so we're not but no she didn't say that). Anyway, I'm re-offering this on freecycle and NOT doing it

again. YUCK! After I gave up on that I threw in Kari Go: Step because I'm comfortable with it. My legs were so fried and I was so tired from trying the other one (and controlling my urge to scream every time said "We're with you!") that I decided to just do the first work out. I gave it all I had left and I could tell I was tired because I was having a hard time keeping up. When I got done with the cool down and stretch on that I decided I needed more balance so I threw in Sansone Firm Walk and did just the upper body toning on that. I really need heavier weights for that workout at this point but it still felt good to do something with the upper half of my body. I still have Abs & Chest of Steel 2000 to try (with Popp and York) and Buns of Steel

Intermediate Step Workout (with Lynne Brick) to try. I'm not feeling hopeful about them after today but will at least give them a shot. I'm watching Sansone WATP 3 Mile Express and WATP Walk Strong, plus Turbo Jam Learn & Burn on eBay right now. I think any of those are more my style! Anyway, I worked out about 50 or 60 minutes all together and for most of it I was working HARD. It was worth trying the Buns of Steel video but I just won't do it again. Overall I felt like I got a really good workout in though.
