Most oats sold in the US are contaminated with wheat, and make a lot of gluten-intolerant folks nauseated. McCannes might be ok, it is for some people, but virtually every other batch tested has measurable contamination. Soaking doesn't help, if you are gluten sensitive. Problems digesting fats are typical gluten problems. The " nausea " is a typical food reaction -- so is cold hands and feet and " chills " , and usually I will feel insanely hungry all the next day, no matter what I eat. I think THAT is from cortisol ... you stress out the body from the allergic reaction and that causes more cortisol the next day and then you can't utilize your own fat stores so you feel starved. >I do tend to have a problem tolerating fats other than coconut oil. >Fats in meat tend to make me feel sick, even though I eat organic >meat. But I think I need more fat in my diet as I still tend to be >hungry and tired after my high meat meals and I crave sweets and am >hungry most of the time. Enzymes with meals can help with that. So does the infamous Warrior Diet, in my experience. Problems digesting fats are often low stomach acid or low enzymes. I think since I switched to only one fatty meal a day, there is more time for the bile to accumulate in the gall bladder, so when I eat there is plenty of bile to digest the fat. Anyway, I had a mess of good greasy tacos the other night NOT fried in coconut oil and they went down just fine without enzymes or wine, which is a first! I also eat some carbs in the evening, which fills me up and then I'm not hungry constantly. But broths and good soups work well too. -- Heidi
