, they are 2 completely different practices. T'ai Chi is from China, and is a standing meditation of sorts. In the city you can sometimes see groups of people doing this in the morning in the parks... traditionally it's done outside at sunrise - not always practical for the average american, so you can take classes or do it on your own with videos. It's slow moving, and graceful, almost like a very slow dance. The moves are named after animals and chinese gestures, such as "snake through the grass", "Playing the Pea-Paw (sp?)", "parting the horse's mane", etc. The movements do generate heat in the body, and after awhile you can sometimes feel your "chi" or energy, and the chi of the others in the room. Sometimes I get a tingly feeling and I feel kissed by the Heavens..nancydewolf <nancydewolf@...> wrote: Hey Ricki (or or whoever), What are the differences between tai chi and yoga? I'm vaguely familiar with tai chi and I immediately picture people standing in complete silence moving arms and/or legs very slowly and deliberately but that's all I know. I'd love more education on this! Thanks!!
