non-toxic way of dealing with split ends...

Suze,

I'm not an expert, but I do have long hair - way past my waist. It's very fine

and prone to split ends. What works for me is not over-shampooing. I don't

wash my hair any more than 2 times per week. First of all - it takes forever to

comb out when it's wet - and second - it wears it out. When I do wash it - I

have found a wonderful shampoo and conditioner (Organics by Natures Gate:

http://www.levlad.com/branded/organics/ngoindex.html) that does not weigh my

hair down. This helps it to stay clean longer - and talk about shine! My

daughter uses this brand too, and she use to have to shampoo every day - very

greasy hair. Now she's only shampooing every 2-3 days. We have both noticed

that we have very few split ends since using Natures Gate, and I rarely need to

have my hair trimmed anymore. I do use coconut oil when I get the time - glop it

on and put a shower cap on to let it set awhile. Usually 10-15 minutes will do.

Then wash and condition as usual.

I've used my own homemade shampoo bars in the past that work as good if not

better than the Natures Gate but I haven't had time to make them lately. I have

the recipe if you're interested. Oh, don't overbrush your hair either unless

you're using a natural bore bristle hair brush - that's so hard on it.
