Guest guest
Hello All! Just a message to let you all know that junk food is alive and well (and pervasive) in the U.S. ! I am currently coaching my youngest daughter's soccer team. As some of you may well know, it is a tradition for someone to bring treats for the team. I did manage to limit it to games only and not practices too. And I made a clear request that the treats be healthy, suggesting fresh fruit, cheese or nuts. Someone reacted right away to the nut part siting an allergy (which I don't deny). Anyway, so far we have had fruit rollups, cheetos, oreo cookies and juice bags. I'm so glad I insisted on healthy! I guess that is what has prevented candy bars from being handed out. I just think to myself, " so this is what we feel we want to feed our athletes. " So much for participating in a healthy activity! Again, in the U.S. I find that it is difficult to find an acceptable social function. Kathy
Guest guest
oh, i feel your pain. believe me. i have ranted here before about this same issue. i don't know anything that makes me crazier, honestly. sadly it's not much better among people who eat " healthfully " as they get the same crap from the HFS and it says " organic " or " natural " and so it must be good! you would hope it would be better at a sporting event, but i can't say that is a big surprise. realfoodie2003 <realfoodie2003@...> wrote: Hello All! Do anyone > know what can I do to " detox " the junk food from my body? not only do I not know, but I think it would vary a great deal for different components of food. Starting with the obvious, the body has a very complex system for breaking down food and getting rid of whatever it does not want to use. I know nothing about how to " detox " gluten and casein in specific. activated charcoal will detox almost any kind of poison, and it is included in a bowel detox product I'm aware of. If I had food poisoning I would take lots of it. > Support the > liver? Will Milk Thistle help? > How long would it take to take effect? with your liver, yes milk thistle will help. With your feelings after eating Mcs: I don't know. I don't think that is very likely. Milk thistle can be taken long term, and taking it daily is a good idea to support your liver. There are a number of different methods or types of liver cleanses one can do. There are also kidney cleanses. There are also bowel cleanses. If you'd like a ton of advertising mail about one set of methods, you can call 800-HERBDOC and ask to be put on their mailing list. I think Hobbs' book " The Foundation of Health " is quite sensible. It is about digestion, and is from an herbalist viewpoint, including liver, colon, etc. Other things that are good for liver: low/no pesticides, chemicals, drugs low/no hormones in food (e.g. much of commercial meat/milk) eat artichokes or artichoke extract eat beets (moderate amounts) eat fenugreek seed sprouts !
