Guest guest
I usually never take my pulse because I used to get panic attacks that involved hearing or feeling my heartbeat, and the association has always made me nervous about hearing or feeling my heart beat. Also, whenever I've taken my resting pulse in the past, it's been close to 90, which has always made me uneasy, as this seems very unhealthy. The last time I took my pulse was a few years ago at night once, and it was around 90. Today in biology lab we did an experiment where we measured our pulses before and after 3 minutes of exercise, which was stepping on a box up and down, very moderately. My initial pulse was 84. My pulse after 3 minutes of stepping was something like 140. Oddly enough, my pulse did not go down afterwards in a linear fashion, but wavered up and down afterwards. For some reason my face was flushed, and I doubt it was from the exercise, which I considered very light exercise. I suspect my pulse rate was inaccurate because taking it was making me nervous. However, I didn't seem nervous to myself when I took my initial pulse, and it seemed quite high. I also never use the sensors on the eliptiacal machine when i do aerobic exercise at the gym for the same reason. I used it today, and within 10 seconds of exercise or whatever it took to get a reading it came it at 120 or so, and I got my heart rate up to 170 very easily (and hit 175 a couple times), going at a speed slower than I usually do. I was using setting 10 at 70 RPM, and usually do the same setting at 75-80 RPM, which means my heart rate probably usually is around 180 during the exercise. Does it seem like I have an excessive heart rate? Anybody know why it is or what I should do about it? I'm male, 5'7 1/2 " , and 151 lbs, if it makes a difference. Guest guest
Wow that is somethign new chirs. Iver never heard of a heart rate monitor phobia before last time i checked my pulse in the morning upon rising i think from memory it was around 70. IF i conservatively relax my body though i can get it to around 60 if i relax. I do think that everyones body is different though and that 1 persons resting heart rates can be higher or lower. But i got a friend who is seemingly perfectly fit and his resting is 88 ( which he then tells me im lazy becasue even before he has gotten out of his bed he has doen more work than me ) aha Also if you have overworked yourself at soem stage and your body is still recovering your heartrate can be higher ( i remember for 2 days after doing MASSIVE INTENSE every bodypart to failure in superslow ) for a godo 2 days my heartrate at rest was abotu 100 while my body was working overtime to get it self back to normal after the inate punishment i bestowed upon myself. > I usually never take my pulse because I used to get panic attacks that > involved hearing or feeling my heartbeat, and the association has always made me > nervous about hearing or feeling my heart beat. > > Also, whenever I've taken my resting pulse in the past, it's been close to > 90, which has always made me uneasy, as this seems very unhealthy. I also get a strange rushing or pounding in my ears usually at night. I think the symptoms are worse at night because there is nothing to distract us except these weird sensations and pain.
