They are near me - I don't know if their cows are exclusively pastured or not,

but they are extensively pastured. Their butter is good, but if I can't get raw

(Org Pastures is the one here), I find that the various European butters taste a

lot better to me.

Of course, my devotion to KerryGold has probably corrupted my taste buds. To me

that is the perfect butter. <G>

I emailed Straus in April 2002 to ask if their milk tested higher for

CLA levels. Vivien Straus emailed back:

" We assume our CLA levels are higher than most because our

cows are grazing from spring through fall and are fed fermented

cut grasses that we grow during the winter months. However,

we have never had our milk tested. We don't know where it

would be tested or how expensive it would be (we assume

it would be very expensive). "

As for the butter it is delicious, very sweet and creamy. In a list of

butterfat content posted at a health food store, Straus listed as

one of the highest fat content, lowest moisture. Straus may have

even been number one, above several imported brands.

As an aside, their vanilla ice cream is incredible and, according

to the label, very high in vit. A.

I have no connection to Straus, just a customer.

We have good sources of milk, meat and eggs. Occasionally cream.
