Guest guest
The test tells about heavy metals impact on the renal function, and not the cerebral function, so there can be lots of heavy metals in brain, and little in renals, and vice verca / opposite ! - and of course there are other problems that can be affecting brain functions than only metals / porphyrins ! Guest guest
Maybe your friends kids have viral issues. We have got Charlie's levels down considerably and our dr says that he has siblings of autistic kids who are not autistic themselves but have higher lead/mercury levels than Charlie. Charlie's immune system is overactive and he has viral issues so that is stopping him progressing more quickly. If he hadn't had the MMR ... dream dream. In fact I think thats the problem with any control group - high % will be toxic Did you ever hear of a porphyrin test coming back negative? >>Oh yes, we have one lister here. Started DMSA chelation after she took test but waiting on results. Child improving on DMSA but came back Porphyrins negative. They planned to continue chelating. This mum said she would test again after they ALA later on so we can see if its the same as the other chap I witter on about. He tested negative twice, took ALA, tested again and was off the page positive on Hg. I think was another with her Joe, don;t think they have done chelation but have tried NCD with some gains as I recall. What worries me most is peop[le thinking a negative test means he kid isn't toxic and then not chelating on the basis of that. I wouldn't believe a negative Porhyrins results unless I had recently used ALA. Mandi x
Guest guest
Hi everybody, Thanks to all of you for your input. I am a bit less confused now. I guess I just have to look at it this way: positive is toxic, negative is not toxic... which means I am toxic too ... Thanks again Veronique
Guest guest
Geir, Does this mean that there is still a heavy metal load within the kidney itself[and probably liver too] or that kidney function has been damaged? Also, does it mean that ALA which supposedly crosses BB barrier should be dropped from chelation protocol until porphyrin excretion subsides? Somewhat retorical questions. As it relates to heme production, our daughter is always on the low end of hgb and hct- Is that pertinent? Are there any follow up tests that one should consider to more precisely define this? Does anyone know if this lab has ultra ensitive measuring? We have been chelating with dmsa/ala for some time now less in the past 1.5 years due to disagreement among responsible parties. I plan to continue at an increased rate using both. We are finally at a point where she seems very much better on rounds. I'm quite sure this test was ordered for my daughter to 'prove me wrong' on the heavy metal issue. The doc, a neuro new to us, seemed surprised that I could even pronounce the vocabulary surrounding the test - glad we didn't get into specifics though as I'm not well versed. > > Hi > > Anyone knows a good site where I can find info on interpreting these > > porphyrin test results? > > My son is high functioning... yet his mercury and lead levels hit the > > roof on the first test we did. Guest guest
Thanks, Mandi, thinking I am understanding this now and that it serves no purpose or no better purpose than a hair test. Not rocket science to figure out with a hair test whether your kid is poisoned or not, much better to use behavior, as in indicator of when you are done, me thinks. Guest guest
That's true, would be more convincing than a hair test. But if you've nothing to prove and you know your kid was exposed, you don't need a porphyrin test to know they were. Could you find someone who didn't test positive or wasn't exposed to mercury, arsenic or lead? Most have either been vaxed, or had amalgams.
