Guest guest
hey, paul, heidi, and all-- thanks for your reply, paul. and it just might help. it definitely raises the question of what type of enzyme. heidi had suggested thorne's biogest, which the LHFS didn't have, but they suggested enymatic therapy's " mega-zyme " instead. (active ingredient list below.) since i had just discovered that american biologic's " infla-zyme forte " was causing me violent diarrhea whenever i took it w/a meal (my ND had prescribed it a while ago for inflammation, for use between meals), i decided to give the mega-zyme a whirl first before trying them out on my mom. the label suggested 2 tablets, so i started outw/1 prior to supper. the next day and no reaction, so we gave my mother one prior to bfast and another prior to the noon meal. around suppertime, though, my innards started to revolt, and i had violent diarrhea --foul-smelling and light colored-- throughout the night and into the morning. my mother's bowels move much more slowly (1 BM every other day), so i gave my father the heads up and we held off on the mega-zyme. she only had a miniscule bit of stinky, sticky poop yesterday, though, and today a regular BM. any comments? insights? interpretations? tia-- allene mega-zyme Amount per 2 tablets pancreatic enzymes 10X+ 325 mg*** USP units of activity:++ Protease 81,250 Amylase 81,250 Lipase 6,500 Trypsin 75 mg*** Papain 50 mg*** Bromelain (1,200 M.C.U./g) 50 mg*** Amylase 10 mg*** Lipase 10 mg*** Lysozyme 10 mg*** Chymotrypsin 2 mg***
