Hi ,

I love my iPod and take it everywhere. I'm not sure how I lived

without one! I even got an FM transmitter so I could listen to it in

my car instead of fumbling around with CDs. Mine was one of the red

and black U2 limited editions. I don't think those are available

anymore.

The new iPods have color video screens so you can watch TV shows on

them. Video would be fabulous for killing time on a treadmill but

you'd break your neck outdoors. :-)

For exercise, a lot of people like the Shuffle or the Nano. The

Shuffle is the size of a stick of gum and holds 100-200 songs

depending on the capacity. Those are only like $99 and you can easily

wear them on an armband or hang them around your neck.

The Nano is a step up. It has a color screen and holds 500-1000 songs,

plus playlists as opposed to just a random shuffle of songs.

I like the real ones though, the ones that play television and music

videos and hold 15,000 songs. :-) I haven't even had my limited

edition one for a year though, so I'm trying to hold out until I break

it or drop it in the dog's water bucket or something. Then I'm

definitely getting a black video iPod. They're $299-$399 depending on

the capacity. I like to go to the website and drool over them. :-)

I don't know how I lived without mine either. I'm the poster child for

deafness from listening to it so much. Standing in lines, going grocery

shopping is a totally different experience. Anything mundane is all of

a sudden tolerable with the tunes. All my family members have one. Get

as much storage as you can afford because you never know how much music

you can accumulate.

Hi,

I have the 20GB iPod (5th generation, but now considered old school). I love

it. I have my playlists timed perfectly. It is awesome. I personally don't

need the video iPod, but they look cool.

I love iTunes and it's really all I use for downloading music and TV

shows. I also have a Rhapsody unlimited membership. I like it because

I can stream whole songs instead of just :30 clips. If I like

something enough to want it then I go download it from iTunes. I

usually have both of them open at the same time.

There are still a lot of free (illegal) download programs but I

haven't used them in quite awhile. I got tired of slow and partial

downloads, clumsy search results, bad recordings, spyware/adware, and

not finding what I wanted. If you have a second computer with a good

firewall and virus protection, that's still an option though. Somebody

else might be able to tell you the better sites for free file sharing.

Some are clean, easy to use and fairly safe (if you only download

MP3s) and some will attempt to install a bunch of unwanted gunk on

your hard drive.

Some of the older, really obscure stuff I can't find on Itunes. I

haven't done the Napster thing in a long time either, but it sure

was good for those B side obscure tunes on albums that are no longer

in production.

You can burn your CDs that you own and love onto your computer iTunes

program, and then download them to the iPod. Then they're FREE, and you

can add (pay for) the new and specific tunes you don't already own. I

actually prefer to buy a new CD and then burn it onto iTunes and then

the iPod, so for the same price I also own the CD. Then only if I want

an INDIVIDUAL tune would I buy it for $.99 online.

I love the iPod mini and drool over the Nano; I like the smaller size

and weight for carrying around.

All: What armbands do you like for the iPod mini? Do you like the

bigger black ones because they keep it still? I just ordered one like

apple's but not apple's: Belkin Sports Sleeve for iPod Mini, but I

worry that the iPod will skip. I like the bigger bands that they have a

pocket for the earphones. But I got a smaller one. I read the bigger

black ones MacAlley etc are too wide for a women's arm

Thanks so much for the thorough answer .

I've been tracking them on ebay and have placed bids several times, but no

wins--YET!! I'm determined to have the shuffle and if I like it, I MAY upgrade.

They would really come in handy in SOOO many ways. I've been in the dark!
