I was in contact with Boston Higashi very recently and they told me they have children from England at the school.

Also when I visited an independent 2 weeks ago they said some LEA's don't contest independents and virtually all of their children were voluntarily sent there by their LEA's, no argument.

A friend of mine in Yorkshire had an independent offered by LEA.

It would appear to be postcode lottery on how LEA's will behave.

I love the look of that school , been keeping an eye on it for yrs and at one time was in touch with the U.K. Higashi parents, but ofcourse when push comes to shove we just can't send residential.

It reads as a perfect fit for considering how much importance they place on physical exercise.

I would love to just move over to Boston and send him in the day, lol, but not much chance of getting into the U.S. and even if we could LEA would stop funding the minute we moved, so bit pie in the sky.

On the subject of LEA'S and rising incidence of autism, I recently had a meeting with the SN co-ordinators here, the people who decide on what goes where, and they said to me they were well aware that autism is hugely on the increase and are in the process of building ASD units attached to secondary schools and enough of them to be accessible to all in the County. The thing is these units will be aimed at the higher functioning/Asperger children, great for my oldest but no use at all to .

Yes, it certainly sounds like that...

I was wondering abut the woman who accosted Blair about lack of proper educational facilities for children with ASD. Didn't she plan to run for parliament. If so maybe it's worth contacting her.

I would be raging mad with all this. The council is intimidating you...Is there not a BBC programme that might be interested in your case. Councils don't like bad publicity....

I have only been in the UK for 2 years but I have the feeling that councils can make or break people here. They have considerable power ( It's even worse in Germany, though. If you are a civil servant at any level, you seldom don't mention this in public as you may get yelled at...becausethe Germans feel they get badly treated by them)....They are on their high horse where I live letting Tescos build like crazy and ruining local businesss. Many locals are consolidating and fighting back which is good to see.

I wouldn't budge at all with the council. They are part of the whole establishment that have allowed our kids to be derailed ( for want of a better word) Get as MUCH as you can out of them. If more people claimed support publicly, then the councils and government would soon see that "Houston has a problem". People will start asking questions...like "maybe there is an epidemic after all" and just maybe the public will put pressure on the governmment to take action.

Humphreys on BBC4 is very pro "the oppressed" (again for want of a better word). There is a another presenter on the show who has several children. I can't think of her name. She might be interested in your case also. She wanted to do a story about a girlfiend of mine whose children were kidnapped and whose ex-husband managed to get her out of the scene for a while by having her interned in a mental assylum.) So I know this presenter has a compassionate heart..geez, what is her name.....

And yes, it was the Higashi School. The carmarthen lady couldn't speak highly enough about the positive effects the school brought about with her two boys.

Vicky,

I think that particular school has at least some pupils who are

placed thereas a last resort, everything else having been tried and

failed, hence the lack of tribunals.

And has anybody said they dare think it may not have to do with genetics?

My neighbour works for the

local BBC news programme and he offered to make a feature about our tribunal–

not much good to you probably but I just wanted to back up what was

saying by adding that your local BBC news programme might well be interested.

Oh I don’t know because my

lawyer advised me against the programme, she said it would antagonize the LEA. I

was just saying they are willing to make them. do you want me to ask him

anything along those lines? Maybe he has contacts in other regions.
