Guest guest
As some of you may know I have recently become an NAS councilor. I have already voiced my, and your concerns to the Chairman, to several of the Trustees, and to fellow Councillors. You are right. The response to this groundbreaking study was paltry. We need to help the NAS to work for us to be our spokesperson, our mouthpiece and the champion of our children and our families rights. There are many issues here, and they all need addressing. We can and will do so, however long it takes. When I first started the autism journey I remember one of my early mentors saying to me when I said “I don’t know how I can thank you” – don’t thank me, when your turn comes do this for someone else. She gave me a very graphic picture of each generation of autism parents and families standing on each others shoulders and reaching for the truth, and justice, and proper funding, education, provision, interventions etc. This is what we all need to do. Please please keep the faith with the NAS – I know it is hard. But it is that old adage, “if you can’t beat them, join them” We really need you, as members, as Councillors, as Trustees, as spokespeople, as the people at the sharp end as we all are. Imagine, between Treating Autism, and a more proactive NAS (well that;s the beginning anyway)……. Hmm, feeling thoughtful tonight, Alison
