Hi ,

Thanks for this viewpoint on an answer too! Should I do it without shoes on? I'd be wearing cross trainers if I wear any shoes. Thanks!

Re: Kickboxing for Dummies question

,I'm coming at it from more of a martial arts point of view rather thanjust fitness kickboxing, but I agree that with the right control it'spossible to do on carpet. However, I think there's a greater risk toyour knees with kickboxing if you do it with shoes on, so you justneed to be careful and pay close attention when moving with sticky shoes.>> I just watched the clip of this on collage and read the review theretoo (I'm loving that list Carolyn posted, thanks Carolyn!). One personmentioned she had a hard time doing it on carpeting and the clip lookslike that might be a problem, looks like you shuffle and slide a bit.99% of my house is carpeted so, is this worthwhile for me to try?Another person said she had bad knees and it wasn't comfortable forher to do. I'm both not very flexible (yet, working on it) and havebad knees. Would kickboxing be safe and comfortable for me to do?> > Thanks!> > >

now this is a good point nancy! i must say that you ask really

good questions :)

while i always wear shoes, quite a few people do not. they go

either barefoot, or wear light weight slip on shoe-thingies... LOL..

sorry i dont know exactly what they are called. personally i like

the stability that shoes give me and i dont think that my balance

would be as good in bare feet. also, i tried it once a long time

ago and ended up kicking a piece of furniture in the room with my

bare toes...ouch! also, kickbox workouts include lots of cardio

elements, like jogging, jumping jacks, boxer shuffle plus shuffling

side to side and i would rather have shoes on to do that stuff.

but that is just me... you might really like it and then you should

be able to move properly on that carpeting without much of a

problem. only trying it will tell !

:*carolyn.

Oh ow! That sounds painful! (Kicking a bag with no shoes on.) Thanks !

Re: Kickboxing for Dummies question

,Depending on the surface you are on, you could do kickboxing withoutshoes. We do most of the same stuff in a martial arts class. Onething that might be tougher though is kicking a bag. We do thatbarefoot in taekwondo too, but if you're not used to it, it might takesome getting used to.> > Thanks for this viewpoint on an answer too! Should I do it > without shoes> > on? Well, I don't see myself getting any kind of bag any time soon but if I ever do, please remind me of this! :-) Thanks !!

Re: Kickboxing for Dummies question

,It really isn't as painful as it sounds as long as the bag is in goodcondition. However, if you kick one of those bags that stands on thefloor with a water-filled base and the padding inside the bag hasbroken down, you can kick the hard core of the bag, which does hurt. I've done it. > > > Thanks for this viewpoint on an answer too! Should I do it > > without shoes> > > on? I'd be wearing cross trainers if I wear any shoes.
