saw a natural history documentary about a year ago... a 'clan' of chimps were

followed for a long period... according to the primatologist, adult male chimps

eat on average 250g!!! of meat almost on a daily basis...[they hunt other

monkeys... rip them to pieces, eat their fill and hand out some of the meat to

their favourite kin]

That's an interesting statistic, and I'd be curious where they get it

from. My understanding was that chimpanzees' meat consumption was

closer to 5% and that it was made up mostly of insects and perhaps

some eggs, and that once a month or so the males will form groups and

hunt down monkeys (not other chimpanzees).
