counted! OMG! thats crazy!

also, i plan on keeping a running count of the days that i

workout... id like to reach at least 260 (averaging 5 days a week).

yeah, well, dont tell MY dh !! LOL

they range in length from 10 mins to 80 mins, so even the little

short ones count.

however, i have realized that i neglected to include my pilates

workouts... so the count is about 15 higher now ::blush:: it is

kind of embarrasing actually!

LOL! OK, I won't tell your DH. How do you hide them all from him?

Thanks for the smile.

lucky for me he is not particularly observant... also, he does

support me in my fitness efforts. but i do think that he would

feel i had an excess of workouts if he realized how many i have.

i keep all of my dvds in zippered binders and all of my vhs packed

away in a dresser drawer, so they are out of sight.

Hey, at least you got them, ya know? I have A LOT of workouts that I've done just one time and some that I will probably never do.

I understand it too but from other obsessions... I'm also a cross stitcher, though I haven't done any in a looong time but for years I accumulated tons of fabrics, so many charts it was beyond insane, magazines, lots and lots and lots of threads (all kinds of different fibers), books about techniques, etc. I FINALLY admitted toward the end of last year that while I might still do some, I was NEVER going to get to some of the extremely difficult projects I had always intended to learn to do and that I wasn't going to do probably 80-90% of the charts I had so I sold a huge amount of it on eBay and other things that wouldn't sell I freecycled. It felt great to know it would go to people who were either going to collect them (and enjoy looking through them, feeling the fibers and fabrics, etc.) or use them and the extra cash I got from selling some was nice too and I got a weird weight off me... guilt I guess it was. I hate having "stuff" that I'm not enjoying or using and I felt "pressure" to use it even though no one but me knew it was there or cared. As an extra plus, I now have extra storage containers in my basement I can use for things I really do need to store (seasonal decorations, seasonal clothes) that were just sitting on open shelves and I didn't have to spend the money on them. Don't take this as even suggesting any of you should get rid of your workout tapes... just telling you what I decided I wanted to do but it took me YEARS to get there. And yes, with encouragement from all of you I have at least 10 workout tapes on my eBay watch list right now... lose one obsession, pick up another, at least I'll have storage space for my new one I guess!

You guys are the only ones who understand the accumulation obsession!

OMG! dont you even think about it! LOLOL im just kidding.... i

totally hear what you are saying... besides fitness dvds, i also

have large collections of books and music cds. i cant bear to part

with a single one of those either, but you are right that in some

years i might feel differently. besides other things, this 'do

every workout in 2007' project is an attempt to determine what i can

comfortably weed out of my collection... it might result in still

keeping everything, but at least im trying :)

LOL! I might have to start hiding my workouts in dresser drawers too.

My DH also supports my fitness efforts, but I know he thinks I have

enough workouts already, but he doesn't say anything when I have to

have the next new " must have " workout. LOL!

the only person who i could show my vhs drawer to is my dad. while

he doesnt collect fitness tapes, he has tons of movies and such on

vhs.... he has way more tapes than i do (and i have about 110 vhs

tapes). the last time he came over i opened the drawer for him.

he smiled and shook his head. at least HE understands!! LOL but

come to think of it, i probably inherited my book and vhs/dvd

obsessions from him!

yay!! he is a keeper, thats for sure! :)

I think it is a great idea to work on trying them all out (and then possibly getting rid of some you didn't end up liking much)! Should give you great variety and a lessening any negative feelings associated with having so many! I should have added I still have way too many needlework supplies. I couldn't get rid of all the patterns because some I have an emotional attachment to and others I swear I'm going to get to and of course, if I do, then I want to have all those fibers and larger pieces of fabrics so that I don't have rebuy them! :-) Books are another thing I love to collect but we just don't have the room in our house so I keep weeding those out every few months. I don't re-read novels so I'm usually okay with getting rid of those (now, I didn't used to be). My daughter has definitely inherited the packrat thing... "But I NEEEEEEEED this little flag that was on my hamburger even though it is torn! My stuffed animals use it for their parties!" When she comes up with a "reason" for keeping something I have a really hard time coming up with a better reason for why she doesn't need to keep it. Unfortunately for me, she's really bright and comes up with creative reasons for EVERYTHING! Hopefully she'll learn from some of my better examples!

That is wonderful that you have someone who understands your

obsession, and yes, I think it would be safe to say you probably got

your obsessions from him. LOL!

Yup, he sure is. He's going to try set it up so I can put my VHS onto

DVD when he has time. We'll see if it works. Thanks Vennitta for

your post on that, I told my DH about it and he said he had that

little gizmo already!
