You see if you go staright to the horses mouth so to speak you have all the backing of Yasko-philes too dont you?? If it was half the price I would consider this route but with such a small difference, mmm, with the Yasko stuff you do get a book and DVD too remember... Just a thought Lotsa Love Caroline xxx PS I just worked out at todays exchange rate (Jeans test is $691, thats a lot compared to the $750, dont you think), when I had the Yasko done a coupla months ago it was $750, that may have changed, of course, JMHO.... Guest guest
Jo Does Jean's panel also include an interpretation of results? I think you have to pay extra for Dr Yasko to interpret the results (someone will correct me if I am wrong here please?) and was wondering if this is the same via Jean? Guest guest
Thanks very much for this! I would love to get the ApoE and GST testing done, so this is a possibility for the future for us. Too bad there's no OTC or SOD -- these are the ones I would really love to get my hands on -- other than G6PDH, DHPR and DHFR -- (LOL - I'm such a science geek now -- who'd ever have thunk it?). Can anyone tell me 1) how many SNPs and/or which SNPs Dr. Musgrove will check for each gene and 2) if there is published information (online, in a book, in other media) concerning the nutritional interventions that will be recommended for these SNPs? Who has determined what the nutrtional interventions are for each of these mutations? Thanks! Best, Theresa Below is Dr. Yasko's current panel: Complete Basic SNP Panel I By looking at diagrammatic representations of the methylation pathway we are able to draw a personalized map for each individual. The methylation cycle is the ideal pathway to focus on for nutrigenomic analysis because the proper function of this pathway is essential for a number of critical reactions in the body. Nutrigenomics integrates concepts in molecular biology and genomics to study the ability of foods and nutritional supplements and how these may assist in maintaining overall health and wellness. According to the National Center of Excellence in Nutritional Genomics at UC , " The science of nutrigenomics seeks to provide a molecular understanding of how common dietary chemicals (i.e., nutrition) affect health by altering the expression and/or structure of an individual's genetic makeup... by understanding our nutritional needs, our nutritional status and our genotype, nutrigenomics should enable individuals to manage better their health and well being by precisely matching their diets with their unique genetic makeup. Guest guest
Zoe, Yes, you're right. You can order a Genetic Analysis Review -- mine was 82 pages with appendices and diagrams. Dr. Yasko will soon also have a nutritinal chart of some kind telling you how much of a need for various supplements the genetics indicates. I will order that, too, once it comes out -- should be very cheap. Many people don't order the GAR ($500), but instead choose to spend time on the Autism Answer discussion forum site and get their answers for the genetics there. I spend hours each day there, it seems (well, not as much since I started the YaskoEurope group and we started having all these interesting conversations over here - LOL), but I still opted for the GAR given that we have seen so much progress with Lulu and that this is our big " shot " at giving her a better chance in life. It just seemed worth it to me and we do have a tiny bit of savings -- and of course all that is earmartked for Lulu and our future as a family -- you all know the drill here. Plus I love getting the science stuff from Yasko, then looking it all up on PubMed -- I've turned into such a GEEK in my old age! I swear, this is my social life these days! HA HA!
