Guest guest Posted July 25, 2006 Report Share Posted July 25, 2006 Hi All Just wanted to let you all know we have been to see the paediatrician this morning to have s Thyroglobulin level re-tested 3rd time in 2 months. On May 1st it was 237, June 15th 140 (Ref Range 30-45 I think). Normally this is used as a marker for people with Thyroid Cancer and noones quite sure why s should be elevated as her Thyroid readings appear fine. When I went this morning our paediatrician said she had speaking again to the endocrinologists and biochemists and told me that if this does turn out to be Thyroid Cancer its very easy to treat !! (Gulp from me who had not really considered that we might be looking at that as a posiibility !! I kind of got the impression that she wanted to mention it/prepare me, just in case, sort of thing... Scary stuff!!) They also wanted to test me too so took blood for me in case mine is also high that would be a good enough explanantion as to why s is elevated. was a little star and thought it was quite interesting that I was having this done too today, bless... She kept saying Mummys got a sticking plaster form the doctor and s got a sticking plaster from the doctor. The doctor checked if we were away again this summer, also a bit odd I found, I have decided that I like it better when she is arguing with me than when she is being nice and agreeing with me... The test takes 2 weeks to come back so we shall just have to hope all is well. If still elevated they reckon it will have to be ultrasound of Thyroid under a general. She had a good feel of her neck and said it felt good, soft no lumps or bumps but from what I read that can often be the case, but still reassuring anyway. I can quite believe I am writing this, I am still feeling a bit shocked and praying that the results will be fine. I think they will be since she is on Singulair now too and this will help if there is any inflammation there. Still will keep you all posted,meanwhile cross everything for us and thanks Mandi and for all your help on this one, really appreciate it. Off to try and study now.
