Oprah doesn't endorse any company or product unless she benefits from

the publicity. Smart business woman. lol I'm considering one a day

vitamin, but not sure what product she had on the show. The message

board on her website may have more information. Oprah did plug

Starbucks...I think she must have a business relationship with them,

because she has spoke favorably of Starbucks on her show many times

before. :)

One a day doesn't have even half of what they recommend. I need to know what

that was! I

am going to check out the message boards. Good idea.

The doctor on Oprah recommended a multivitamin that contains 800 mcg

of Folic Acid and 400 IU of Vitamin D, along with some calcium and

magnesium thrown in. He didn't give exact amounts for the latter. So

actually, the one-a-day vitamin has all the recommended Vitamin D and

exactly " half " of the Folic Acid recommended. I figure, if I take one

one-a-day pill and eat well I'll be fine. Good luck finding the

multivitamin mentioned on the show(let us know if you find it). :)

If anyone here takes one-a-day vitamin, which type would be best for

me? I had planned to buy the " active " brand tomorrow, but maybe

the " maximum " would be best for me. I'm starting off with a sedentary

lifestyle, excess fat, and a little stressed. lol It doesn't have to

be one-a-day, I'm open to other affordable brands as well.

I have been looking up multivitamins a lot lately based on a book

called 'You the owners manual'. They seem to recommend the same thing

as the Oprah show. So far I have been unable to find any multivitamin

that has 800 mcg of folic acid (besides prenatal vitamins). Right now

the best one I found was One Source (complete Womens), here are the

facts:

Vitamin A 5000 IU 100%

Vitamin C 180 mg 300%

Vitamin D 400 IU 100%

Vitamin E 90 IU 300%

Thiamin (B1) 81.5 mg 5433%

Riboflavin (B2) 80 mg 4706%

Niacin (B3) 15 mg 75%

Vitamin B6 80 mg 4000%

Folate,Folic Acid,Folacin 400 mcg 100%

Vitamin B12 80 mcg 1333%

Biotin 81.5 mcg 27%

Pantothenic acid 80 mg 800%

Calcium 500 mg 50%

Iron 27 mg 150%

Phosphorus 100mg 10%

Iodine 150 mcg 100%

Magnesium 200 mg 50%

Zinc 15 mg 100%

Selenium 105 mcg 150%

Copper 2 mg 100%

Manganese 2.5 mg 125%

Chromium 100 mcg 83%

Molybdenum 50 mcg 67%

This also is comparable with GNCs Women's Ultra Mega, Timed Release

Tablets. (which are quite a bit more expensive!)

Hope that helps a little!

The doctor on the Oprah show was one of the authors of the 'You' book.

It is a great read.

There is a company that you could get a multivitamin from that does

have 800 mcg folic acid. The company is into all natural products.

You can order online or through the mail the company is called

Melaleuca. The cost of the bottle if you are a perfered customer is

$16.00 , nothing that you could get in the store for sure. Just

wanted to let you know there is one out there.
