Guest guest
Whew, I managed to get a workout out. I didn't think it would happen b/c I overslept, but I still did one! I had planned a " Ball " theme for this week so I went with Charlene Prickett's Well Rounded Strength. It is divided into two workouts - one is a bit longer - maybe 35-40 minutes and the other is a bit shorter - 20-25 minutes. Both workouts are good and challenging with the ball. Charlene is working out with her daughter, Xanna in this one. This DVD really shows some different ball exercises that are TOUGH. For example, Charlene and Xanna start the workout off sitting on their balls - the catch, their feet aren't on the ground AT ALL. They start first with knees bent and straddling the ball - like they're riding a horse - I could semi-balance in this position - but then they switch to legs out in front of them, straight legged - what Charlene calls an " L " sit. Oh my - how could they do it - but they do! I couldn't do this at all. There were some exercises I've seen before on this DVD, the pikes/planks, some crunches, some squats with one leg on the ball, etc. But they also included exercises I haven't seen on any other DVD/video - such as lying on your ball with your feet straight propped against a wall doing crunches! Yes, I wrote that! LOL! I did standard crunches b/c I really can't see myself doing that. There are quite a few exercises on this DVD that require you to have a free and clear space of wall -you'll do some tricep push-ups with the ball between you and the wall, you'll do a squat with one leg propped against the ball (the side of your leg), a side plank with your feet on the ball with the ball propped up against the wall, etc. I find some of these do-able and others not so much - partially b/c they seem impossible and partially b/c I just can't see putting my feet on the walls like that - and I don't have a clear space of wall readily available, I used the glass door for part of it, but I'd ahve to re-arrange furniture to do the rest. All in all though, this is a good ball workout if you're looking for some different exercises. Charlene and her daughter cue well and explain the movements well - often demonstrating it first. They both amaze me with their proficiency on the ball! The downside to the workout is the bland music - which seems to be in all of Charlene's workouts - but you'll be concentrating so hard you wont' care. BTW, my glutes are still killing me from Friday! Tomorrow is cardio, I'm thinking of giving 's ABC a go (thanks, !) Take care everyone, Donna __________________________________________________
