Hi !First off thanks for all the great info on WW. (Thanks to and Carolyn too for giving their opinions of the program)

You're welcome!

>>>Check out www.weightwatchers.com and look into the WW online option if you're interested in that.<<<We have our own WW website here in Canada "www.weightwatchers.ca". It is pretty much the same as the U.S one though.

Sorry! I'm always forgetting who is U.S. and who isn't!

I don't really enjoy doing stuff on the computer. I would likely check out the website and what it has to offer but I don't think the on-line option would be for me.

Sounds like you're right. I'm a computer geek so it works for me.

There is only one meeting location though so no opportunity to shop around and find a leader/meeting that "fits".

It's possible different leaders teach different sessions, especially if one is morning and one is evening on the same day. You could call and find out or stop in and find out.>>> The other plan is called "core"

Hmmmm....I think I agree with Carolyn and I would find counting points would get old fast. Perhaps the Core plan would be better for me. Nice to know you can switch if one isn't working for you.

I did flex for a long time (counting) and found that I concentrated on making sure I didn't go over the points but not on nutrition. I lost all my weight with flex but now that my focus is nutrition, core works better for me (you can definitely eat healthy on flex, I just didn't make it my primary focus). With core, the food list is healthy food and I can just focus on that. I really like not having to measure and count too!

When you're in loss mode, you can switch back and forth between the plans every week (spend an entire week on one plan). Very easy, very flexible.

Re: Journal Was thinking of investing in an exercise/food journal to help keep me on track. Does WW have one?? Just wondering cause I wouldn't want to buy one then find a perfectly good one comes with my WW memebership.

Whenever you attend meetings, you can pick up (or are given) a free pocket size tri-fold journal. You can record food/points and exercise. Thanks again for the info!

Glad to help!

nancy and i have talked about this before... but i wanted to say

that this happened to me too. the points plan will, essentially,

let you eat anything that you want. portion is the key. i would

have to see the complete core list to decide if it were right for

me, but, like nancy, the next time i would know better and would

concentrate on eating whole grains, lean protein, low fat dairy,

fruits and vegetables.

oh, and nancy, i am glad to hear that WW is putting more emphasis on

exercise this year!

Hi, The diet I follow, the Glycemic Index Weight Loss Plan allows you to basically eat unprocessed foods, lots of fruits, veggies and whole grains, but you avoid highly processed foods and foods that have a high glycemic index count (sugars, fats, etc.) - It's easy to follow and works for me... While I have never joined WW, everyone I know who has done it has been more successful in weight loss than those who do the fad of the day. As someone else mentioned today, most are happy to share the point system with you without joining and all that, so it's not necessarily the information, in my opinion, that makes WW so successful. What makes it successful, from my observation, is the fact that you are held accountable for all your actions, just like a personal trainer would make their client do - you weigh in each week and fess up to your eating mistakes to a bunch of people and that can't be easy. But when you're done you get support from professionals, like our , and keep on going! When you do lose people applaud you! When you reach your goal weight you can participate for free, which is neat! WW teaches you lifestyle changes, not starvation or extremes. I'm so happy you're in this group and I officially name you our Weight Watchers expert! , List Owner

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! I actually have tears in my eyes!!! Thank you so much for trusting me so much!!! The smiley is so wonderful too!!! I was hoping we weren't getting too off topic so this is especially nice for that reason too. :-) I appreciate the title though as I've tried answering questions I realize I still need to learn a lot myself and am looking forward to the training and working with the company. I've wanted to be a WW leader for a long time but never had the confidence in my self as a Weight Watcher before, I do now and this REALLY means a lot to me to read too!! I've got my informational meeting/interview on the 17th, then hopefully I'll be accepted and start soon after. I'll keep you posted.

Your description of why it works for many people is excellent and yes, most people are very willing to share because they are excited and want others to know that feeling of success and also being sincerely supported too. One thing I will "correct" though is that no one will EVER ask you to fess up to your eating mistakes! If you choose to share what happened at the scale, good or bad, you can, if not, you definitely don't have to. You can just listen and wait for a light bulb to go on in your own brain. You can also talk with the leader privately and he or she can definitely be like a personal trainer for you. At the end of each meeting, my leader hands out stickers that say "bravo" on them for weight loss or habit change. I LOVE that last part! It is fun being recognized just for trying hard to make improvements, even if the improvements haven't yielded much fruit yet and you get applauded for that too! Note: not all leaders do that but from the various leaders I've seen in action over the last year most try to recognize non-scale victories (NSV) too.

Anyway, thank you again , your support and trust (and the smiley) are just overwhelming!!!!
