Rebounder advice

Hey All:

, exerciser wannabe, here. I was watching " THE SHOPPING CHANNEL "

yesterday. They were selling the " Urban Rebounder " . A rebounder seems

like such a fun way to exercise that I am thinking aobut ordering

one. Went on-line to check the reviews. Rebounding itself got great

reviews but the ones specifically on the Urban Rebounder were mixed.

I checked out a few other models and now I am more confused.

Needak Soft Bounce??

Reboundair??

Both look good and I have found side by side comparisons done by each

company. Course who comes out on top depends on who is doing the

comparison. Anyone have any advice on a model to buy, one that can be

purchased in Canada? I would like one with folding legs. Those seem

like good option cause then the unit can easily be stored behind a

door or under a bed. A unit that totally folds seemed neat at first

but then I wonder how often I would actually fold it up and have

heard that some models are difficult to fold.

Also, any advice on rebounding in general or good rebounding DVDs??

Hi ,

Welcome back! I hope you stick around and start

working out - I know that it is hard for you to enjoy

it -but you will - just keep trying to find something

you like.

I'm not much help in the rebounding department - but

if it helps I've been drooling over a rebounder at

Target for several months now! LOL! It is the Body

Burner. I do plan to get it in the near future.

Carolyn is somewhat of a Rebounder expert - Carolyn, perhaps you can list all the rebounder videos you can think of on a Word document and upload them into the Files section since thise question keeps coming up? JUST A THOUGHT! There was another rebounder exerciser here too, but I forgot her name!

hi lisa - i got my rebounder at the sports store in the stratford

mall. maybe check there to see if they still sell them. it is a

middle-of-the-road model... i cannot afford an urban rebounder or

needak or reboundair, yet i didnt want the super cheap ones from

zellers or canadian tire. maybe that store at the mall will let

you try it out for a few minutes? maybe you might like to try mine

before you buy? my kids like to jump on it at times, as well.

that model does not fold, but the legs do come off. it would still

store under a bed, i think.

i never put mine away though, but leave it out where it is handy to

get on/off while im using workout videos.

there are a few rebounding workouts available... the most common are

the urban rebounding dvds, although i dont have them. mainly i use

the rebounder free-style (doing whatever move i want - mostly

jogging/running, jumping jacks, etc... basic aerobic moves) while

listening to music or i use it with my usual floor aerobics dvds. i

need it to take the high impact out of many of my cardio workouts,

yet retain the intensity.

sadly, there are not many rebounding workouts at all. and i

certainly dont own all of them out there. actually, i only own

two, or so, workouts that are specifically made for rebounding.

most of the time, i use the rebounder with regular floor aerobics

videos or audios like cardio coach, kathy smith walking, or just

with fitness music. pretty much any floor aerobics routine can be

modified for use with the rebounder... for example, leslie

sansone's walking workouts can be modified 'up' with the rebounder,

while other routines that have alot of jumping in them can be done

on the rebounder to remove the high impact but keep the intensity of

the workout. actually i believe that there is a thread somewhere

on videofitness that contains a list of workouts that people have

done on their rebounder... but it is very very long because pretty

much any workout can be modified to use it!

This is great information Carolyn! I never thought about modifying high impact workouts that way, I just avoid them, maybe I won't need to now. Thanks for posting this!

no probs nancy... that is really the main purpose of a rebounder...

to make movements no/low impact.

it has enabled me to jog, run and jump like ive never been able to

before.

I never knew that either (not surprising, there's a lot I don't know, more every day I notice). Or I did know (because I knew about jogging on one) but never thought to actually modify workouts like this. I'm not very out of the box on workouts, yet anyway, gotta get more comfortable and keep collecting great ideas and new information!

I frequently modify high impact workouts on my rebounder.

The rebounder really helps me avoid low back pain!!!!

hi sherri - i gave aerobox to laura because i couldnt do all of the

jump roping (for various reasons, one being asthma and the other was

simply the impact on the body). now that i have a rebounder, im

going to get this one again. the jumping was impossible for me

before, now it will be a great workout for me. the rebounder can

really open some doors and breathe new life into many workouts.

Hi!

I'm actually holding on to Aerobox and Cathe's Kick

Max for when I get the rebounder!! I can't bring

myself to do all of that high impact now and I " m sure

the rebounder will make it more enjoyable.
