Guest guest
Great! you get that front row! What about (and actually it's not really different so probably yours is better) It is the experience of many parents of autistic children that the NHS does not identify or treat specific medical problems such as chronic gut issues, malabsorption and zinc and other mineral deficiencies. With autism now at 1:100 in the under 18s what would the panel do to ensure that full medical services are available to people with this particular disability? > > I am trying to get in the audience (and if I do, I want a front seat and my > Treating Autism T-Shirt on - Jo do you have XXL left from Ascent 4 Autism?) > > I would like to pose a question to the panel highlighting incidence (1:100) > and lack of appropriate medical care. > > This may be our best chance with Cameron having a special needs child. Guest guest
Excellent idea Mandi. How do you go about getting on the show ? Jane OT: BBC Question Time - THIS WEEK BOURNEMOUTH - Feedback Please I am trying to get in the audience (and if I do, I want a front seat and my Treating Autism T-Shirt on - Jo do you have XXL left from Ascent 4 Autism?) I would like to pose a question to the panel highlighting incidence (1:100) and lack of appropriate medical care. This may be our best chance with Cameron having a special needs child. His focus always seems to be education. I spoke recetnly with a local Cons MP who said Cameron is famous for bleating on abotu SEN provision. I don't feel a question that rehashes MMR debate would do us any favours - cause in general - I want to go for NEEDS Question has to be succinct I think to get on Lots of Emails requesting the same question might work Suggestion something like this:- 1:100 children in the UK have a high incidence of medical issues but cannot access medical assessment or treatment BECAUSE they have Autism Whaddya think troops? Manic Mandi in Dorset PS Attending the fringe debate on Autism Monday night - will report back (NAS and Virginia Bovell on the panel)
Guest guest
Great idea Mandi. I also agree you best avoid any mention of MMR, probably any debate on autism CAUSES would just backfire at this stage (it could be a side-track debate opportunity for those who want the issues avoided - once you mention higher rates and enviromental causes, they could get into better diagnosis gibberish and the issue gets watered down... ). Yes, focusing on incidence of medical problems, GI issues in particular, is absolutely right. Guest guest
Hi mandi, Might have missed this, but did you get a question accepted? Will you be in the audience then? Good luck if yes.
