Hi , I found that the easiest way to get fitness into my life was putting it into manageable doses - at the beginning I would just say to myself, "I'm going to work out today." And I would do it that day...eventually the days added up to weeks and months - Also, I chose tapes to work out with that are fun...so I have a good time and feel good about myself. Good luck, Rickilisatigani <ontheedge@...> wrote: Hi All:My name is and I am from Ontario. I lived about 15 minutes away from Carolyn. I really need to start doing something. I have never really been what I would call "in shape" but I wasn't overweight either. I have very slowly been putting on weight though and in the past 6 months have been having trouble doing up my pants. I took my measurements and noticed my waist is almost as big as my hips. Scarey!!! I just turned 40 so I guess I can't expect anything else when I eat junk all the time and don't do any exercise. I have a number of workout DVDs, most of which I have never even watched let alone actually used. Anyway, I will keep you posted on my progress. If you don't

hear from me....well...that means I have nothing to report cause I am not doing anything. __________________________________________________

Hi !

I'm an on again off again exerciser and I think the keys for me are (1) it has to be FUN and (2) doing exercises appropriate for my fitness level. The 2nd seems like a no-brainer but I have this way of wanting to "challenge" myself but what it turns out to be is killing myself and because I'm working so hard, thinking I'm doing something so good for myself, I'm really going at it too hard and I quit because I can't maintain the pace. I've recently started again, with a new attitude. Even if a workout or schedule seems "wimpy" compared to some of the really challenging ones I've seen posted here, I'm not comparing it anymore and just proudly doing it. No one else is comparing mine and saying "What a wimp!" just me!! They're all cheering me on, making fee feel great! Time doing any exercise is better for me than time reading about others doing something! I'm starting to experiment with videos and getting a better sense of what I really do like, what is and isn't challenging for me (at this point) and what is fun for me. I'm a walker so I decided to try Sansone walking videos. I thought they'd be boring, just walking in place, but she puts so much more into it and makes it fun and interesting. I've worked past the ones I have and am looking at getting one of her intermediate or advanced tapes soon, keeping the ones I already have for lighter days. I like step aerobics too and with some great suggestions from people here I've gotten a Kari one I really like and a Kathy one I need to work with more but think I like a lot too. I've got a ball workout I'm trying and next up is going to be trying kick boxing and yoga (taking a yoga class) and more strength training/toning. Give yourself time and room to find what works for YOU and when you enjoy it, getting a good workout without exhausting yourself, hopefully you'll be able to stick with it (and hopefully I will too, 1 week down, 3 to go in my search for consistency and habit). Post what you do and you'll get LOTS of encouragement too! Post when you're thinking about it and we'll help you stick to it too! :-)

Hi , I remember you! There is a pic of you meeting Carolyn on the site too, right? I'm Jen and I am another slacker but maybe if we nag each other we will start and keep on working out! Jen lisatigani <ontheedge@...> wrote: Hi All:My

Welcome back, ! I hope you can find something you like to do, because that's what will keep you exercising regularily. For some people that's workout videos, for others like Jen it's volleyball - whatever! Is there any sport you remember just loving to do? Swimming? Rollerskating? Hula hoops?
