Guest guest
I am struggling to quit smoking. How did you conquer it? Please help! In a message dated 12/27/2006 6:01:07 P.M. Still, even with the weight gain I breathed so much easier that it was worth the exta pounds, though you sound like you have control over the situation and that is AWESOME! , I know what you mean about your improved breathing. Within just 2 weeks of stopping smoking I went from struggling to slow jog on a treadmill for 10 minutes to a much faster jog for 30 minutes. I couldn't believe the difference.I've been having a bit of a struggle this last month not to put on too much weight. I've been giving in to the munchies too often and mustn't let it become a habit. I stopped eating anything containing sugar 17 months ago, so my munchies usually involve nuts or cheese, waaaaaaaay too many calories! I stopped in August of 89, and only backslid once--I took a drag off someone else's cigarette on October 17th 1989, about 5 minutes after the Loma Prieta earthquake, choked, and never ever had the urge to smoke again. Extreme (and accidental) aversion therapy, I guess. Since that's impractical for everyday use, I'll share what was working from August to October of 89. I quit with somebody else, my then husband, so we were able to give each other support, first of all. I got rid of everything in our home related to smoking, and avoided situations where we'd usually smoke. We also told all our friends that we were trying to quit, and asked the smokers to please not smoke around us. We also drank lots of water, especially after eating (when you really want that smoke) Good luck, it really is worth it! You won't believe how much better you'll feel after you stop! Anne Thanks Anne! This is one of my New Years resolutions.

Guest guest
You are still doing awesome (despite the nuts and cheese which are at least healthier than cookies, like I've been eating lately)!
