Guest guest
Just got back from a visit to my GP with my son. He's got a bad yeast infection. Really obvious. Ring on anus, stomach cramps, passing gas like crazy, can't sleep, can't focus, etc. Doc took one look at the ring on his butt - " Thrush " . OK, Great. What do we do to get rid of it? This was our breakthrough. Our local GP could finally help us out with his gut problems. What would she prescribe? Nystatin? Diflucan? Nope - she wouldn't prescribe anything for his gut. We got a cream for his butt and he'll just have to fight off the gut infection himself. You could tell she wanted to help, but she was just too scared to prescribe anything for him coz he's only a 3YO. She reckons that these meds are only given to kids with severe immune disfunction.......Where do you even start to respond to that. He's sick but she won't help him???? Anyone got an idea of a " mild " anti-fungal that she should be ok about prescribing? Til then, it's time to up the dose of GSE, oregano, probiotics, etc.
Guest guest
This must have happened to us at least 7-8 times. Red rash for which we got various and sundry explanations, the last of which was it wouldn't leave until she was potty trained. And always the worthless rx for the nystatin cream, which did NOTHING. So we potty trained her and it was still there and we took her in again and still the nystatin cream which does NOTHING. Finally we got tired of this and drove 6 hours to see a dr who finally rx'd some Diflucan and after that quit working, some Lamisil and the difference has been amazing, fine motor control problems solved, she already had the ability to follow 3-4 step directions, now you could tell her 10 things to do and she can remember them all. I am so mad about this, how long she had to suffer, I could spit and among those that refused to do anything was a Dan! we visited. Keep at it Liam, keep fighting until you find somebody with the guts and the brains to rx something for a medical problem that can cause such horrid problems. I don't even like to think how different things would have been if we could have gotten an rx for this from the start. Yeast and medication Just got back from a visit to my GP with my son. Guest guest
Have you tried SCdiet? It worked for us, to start with we also lowered fruit and honey, did wonders for his digestion and reflux. We got rid of the red ring only after starting LDN. Cleared it within days. Made me think that the redness had nothing to do with yeast after all (at least in our case). Unfortunately ldn is rx-only, and your gp probably has never heard of it anyway. Have you got a DAN? We realised that one thing that ALWAYS gave ds bad gut problems and red ring, (to the point of skin popping up in blisters and peeling off!), even after it had cleared on ldn, was dried currants and sultanas. other dried fruit is mostly fine. one other thing I can think of is enzymes - Huston ZymePrime did wonders for his bloated stomach. hth Natasa > > This must have happened to us at least 7-8 times. Guest guest
Haven't tried SCD yet. I think it may have flared up coz Connor has been munching lots of fruit lately, so I guess diet is probably something we'l look at. But he's been on LDN for a few month. We're getting some dilfucan sent to us after a visit to ATT (Lorene Amet's clinic) in Edinburgh last week. Hopefully, that will sort things out when it arrives. The redness is 100% yeast. Even our non-DAN! GP can tell that. Yet she won't do a thing for it. So typical. Thank God we've got someone who will prescribe stuff for us. > > > > This must have happened to us at least 7-8 times. Guest guest
Hi Interested to hear about the ring on his butt!! Is it a thickish grey ring around his anus? Because I have just realised that Luke has this!! My son, Luke has been acting very oddly the last few days - lots of laughing to himself - some of it hysterical laughter, very hyper - woke last night and didn't go back to sleep (which is unusual for him) - and off his food - can't get him to eat anything healthy!! At the same time - Luke seems perfectly happy - but definately more stimmy!! The last organic acid test showed no yeast and the stool test done about 4 months ago was nil yeast - so I have always disregarded that this could be a problem. I am know starting to think - it could be yeast - particularly when you described the ring. Oh god - haven't had to treat yeast before - what is the most effective thing? Also about to start MB12 shots - should I postpone this before I sort out this problem - or just continue??? Help!! Nicola Yeast and medication > Just got back from a visit to my GP with my son. Guest guest
How about the SCD diet? It starves off the yeast naturally with no meds and usually causes many more improvements. 7.5 years >>> " Nicola Trotman " <n.trotman@...> 9/8/2006 8:26:04 AM >>> Hi Interested to hear about the ring on his butt!! Guest guest
> Hi I did try the SCD diet once but Luke refused to eat anything I offered him - my husband, bless him, cooked and cooked for days, trying to tempt him with the muffins etc. Luke is also very good at refusing food for hours and hours, even days - and I am the one to cave in first as there is very little meat on him as there is!! Thanks anyway! Guest guest
Hi Nicola We had the OAT test and it showed no yeast but Dr H told us it can't test for every single strain and remember its a snapshot in time. For us when we get old laughing boy, we know its yeast (could also be OD on phenols if its mad nighttime laughing). The grey ring is a bit confusing - normally its red - wondering whether its bacteria (but no doubt other parents on the list can advise) I'd get the Diflucan in, in your shoes, we love it. But there are many other effective yeast killers. Mandi has recommended to us to give candex a whirl so we decided to try it (awaiting supplies). But most people rotate yeast killers. If you can't get diflucan on prescription, and want it, email me off list. We us a low maintenance dose of powdered nystatin as well(we think J reacted to colours in syrup - he got all sensory and when we took it out, stopped). Most yeast killers taste quite bitter - so you have to get it well disguised in something he likes. The most essential thing to note with all yeast killers is low and slow, because you get die-off (things get even more mad for a while because the yeast is being eradicated and it can cause both behavioural and physical symptoms). If you haven't had a look at Dr. Shaw's website google it, its brilliant on Yeast (also his book is ace, although there are somewhat scary diagrams which I, honestly, skipped.) I would settle the yeast a bit before MB12 but that's just me. If you're a patient of Dr H email him - he'll reply in a couple of days. All the best, Eileen and > > Hi > > Interested to hear about the ring on his butt!! Is it a thickish grey ring > around his anus? Because I have just realised that Luke has this!!
