Guest guest
First of all, Heidi's many postings about gluten intolerance have probably saved my life as I never before identified this condition, after years of searching for what was wrong with me. Her generous explanations have led me to an understanding of how the condition works, and enabled me to diagnose myself, at a time when I cannot afford the tests. Now gluten (and grain) free, I'm feeling SO much better. This would not be the case without Heidi's generous posts. I know others have had the same experience. Second, while I'm not following the Warrior diet per se (I'm preganant and didn't have weight to lose anyway) I am, due to this thread, much more comfortable with eating a large meal at night, which is awesome! I was always very fearful of eating late and now I see why it can make sense to let digestion happen overnight. If I don't get it together to eat at 7, I can eat at 9 and not feel I have to eat 'light', but rather, take in the nutrients I need. (In tonight's case, roast lamb with broth sauce and cauliflower slathered in melted raw butter.) Third, the conversational and anecdotal and personal tone of this list is invaluable. It keeps it fun and is a great way to exchange ideas and information that doesn't happen in a more rigid format. Fourth, while newcomers are wonderful, there is a certain respect for the 'vibe' of the list that needs to happen. People who have taken the time, over years, to post frequently and stay involved, are what make this list a communiy. I see nothing wrong with asking someone to tread lightly before they suggest major changes to how conversations are conducted here. Fifth, veganism would NOT be relevant to this list, while low carb, atkins, warrior etc, ARE relevant. Because the latter diets are not in disagreement with the WAPF, they fit within the framework and teachings of WAPF. Sixth, NT is not a diet, it is an education. It gives you a broad range of foods and preparations to choose from. Within that context many ways of eating are supported depending on the individual. People on this list are very bright and even newcomers will figure out that this is not a warrior diet board, but rather, people exchanging information within the Price framework. Finally Sally Fallon does not hold herself up as some sort of guru and that is what's great about her. We all have a tremendous amount of respect for her. But we don't consider her book gospel the way so many dietary authors demand to be considered. NT is arguably the best book on nutrition ever written and that's why it opens the door to so many areas of discussion. So, Bee, no offense, but please do not ignore what is clearly the consensus here, that people are happy with the nature of this list, and please do not reprimand people who make it happen.
