Guest guest
Floor Burn with Tamela Hastie was on the rotation for today. This is a fusion workout as are all of the WHFN Kickbutts and Fit Primes. I loved this workout it consists of mostly floor work as the name suggests. There wasn't much use for weights in this workout unless you count the section where you place a weight on your leg while doing shootouts and leg lifts (she called them a Pull and a Slice). Ouch that got my legs burning. I used weight only for the first set and had take it off for the second set. The ab work was great, the first set was crunches alternated with pulleys (bicycle) with not much rest in-between, then a twist was added, the second set concentrated on the transverse abs. I liked the slow controlled movements of both sets, they were tough though. I got my heart rate up with the frog jumps which surprised me. I used my exercise ball for the table work which consisted of leg lifts with the knee bent and what we used to call fire hydrants only these were done in a small range of motion (pulses) which really got my abductors burning. I needed to pause the DVD so I could hold the cow faced posture longer on the right side. A Pilates move was used for the legs that was fun to do, you start lying on your right side with your left leg extended out behind you, the leg is then swung to the front then you bend your knee, swing it back keeping the leg bent then when the leg is at the back again it's straightened. I also feel like I can come up higher in cobra and pigeon pose, both were in this workout. I guess all the yoga I've been doing has been helping! Didn't mean for this to get so long, but it was a great workout, and I feel like I've worked and I feel relaxed at the same time! I didn't burn too many calories with this, although it was more than I figured at 166. Have a great day, Kerry
Guest guest
Hi Kerry, Good going! I like to do light cardio before yoga as well.
