Guest guest
Good morning everyoneI'm doing a Huge Project for my dad and decided to entice you all to do the same for your families. My sister kept saying for years she'd work on the family genealogy and as of this date nothing has been done. An Uncle's wife did some prior to her passing years ago, however, she never went into the individual children and their families. I figure we'll end up with a large book of family names and history to pass onto our children and have them continue it with their children. Dad is upset that I said I was going to take it to Kinkos to have it put into a book and send off to everyone. So, I will do this for him and then make copies of it for his brother and sisters and my son. Think about all the fun and frustration of obtaining family history for your off spring.Hugs Love & Prayersette
Guest guest
ette, I too have started a project of genealogy. Been working on my dad's side of the family as had a starting point to begin with. I now have over 8000 names in my database. It's amazing what you find when digging up relatives. Many fascinating characters and interesting to see what some went through. Also found out why multiples seem to run in our family. Good luck on your search. Guest guest
Terri BWow! I'd love to be able to have that many names, however, I've only just begun and it's difficult in locating names of relatives. Can you advise of some sources other than living relatives, etc?? My dad's and mom's side is starting to go to Czechoslovakia, Poland, Germany, Hungarian and Ireland.Hugs Love & Prayersette
Guest guest
You are going to run into some of the problems that I have with my mom's side of the family. Depends on when they got here. If it's after the 1890's, Ellis Island has a good site. Also, familysearch.org is great (it's the LDS site and they have excellant records). I use Rootsweb a lot, some of the problems you run into are so many parts of Europe changed after WWII, parts of countries were absorbed into other countries. Like some of my ancestors are from Denmark that became part of Germany. I started with my g-g-g-grandfather since I had some info on him. He immigrated as a child and he was born in 1808..so very few records. I know the year he was born, when, where and how he died. What I don't know is his parents names so I've had to concentrate on his wife who has lots of info. Those 8000 names are pretty much based on her line. Another thing that can help is just "google" some names..I've found a lot of info just doing that way. It's really cool what you can find. Good luck! Choose the right car based on your needs.
