Dang since I hate them so much..if it's gonna make my butt stick out more, I'll just skip them all together...walking lunges won't do that will they? Guest guest
Tall Step-Ups http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/GluteusMaximus/BBStepUp.html You can do them with dumbbells or a barbell. The step needs to be about knee height in order to get a full range of motion and get your glutes involved. The lower you are when you push off from the floor, the more work your glutes have to do to get you to the top of the step. Advanced exercisers should drop low, bend the bottom knee and make the working leg/hip do all the work to pull you up. Beginners can stay upright and push off a little with the bottom leg in order to assist the working leg. Step-ups hit your glutes like nothing else because they focus on that whole tricky area where the thighs and glutes meet. The Firm built an entire workout empire on that 14 " step that became their famous " fanny lifter. Guest guest
I do these with a high step and hand weights then kick backwards the leg that comes off the floor last squeezing my glute in the process. I found this not only targets the leg that is stepping up on the bench, but also the opposite leg as it comes off the floor by contracting the glute. Then trade sides. No sense in the last leg off the floor being lazy! Then repeat on the other side. Guest guest
Yeah butt..LOL (the pun) When I am squatting 55 pounds for 3 x 12, I feel like I cannot get up on the last rep. It takes all my strength, and it's a loosey 55 pounds. Jeez, I can bench 45 for 4 x 12..so, what gives. I do the hip sled with 130 pounds, for sometimes 5 x 12 depending on my day, and other stuff I have already done, I have a pretty intense leg workout. I do about 6-10 exercises for my legs on leg day, with usually 3 x 10-12 If I was to do say, squat...100 pounds I may only be able to do 1-5 and what if I cannot get up, and I do not have a spotter? ~ Goddess Abigor <goddessabigor@...> wrote: Kerr wrote: > Oh, god I hope not....for my sake!!! > > Maybe it's a good thing that I can only squat 55 pounds...my wimpiest exercise yet!!! > > Dang since I hate them so much..if it's gonna make my butt stick out more, I'll just skip them all together...walking lunges won't do that will they?
